Summary
So the process goes like this:
Jon pretends not to get the flirting. He laughs at Tim’s jokes, and he turns to face him on the rickety barstool, and he moves closer to hear him better. He stirs his drink and tells Tim about whatever thing he can think of for long enough to recall the most intimate details of. Tonight it’s smallpox vaccinations. Tim moves closer to him until he’s almost in Jon’s lap, almost without Jon noticing it at all, and then he wraps his arms around Jon’s neck, breath ghosting over Jon’s lips, and Jon, surprised and unsure of what’s happening, squeaks.
“Let me take you home?” Tim asks against his mouth. Their lips don’t quite touch.
“Okay,” says Jon.

Leaning his head back against Tim’s shoulder, Jon closes his eyes for a moment. “I know,” he says, his voice softened somewhat. “It shouldn’t be a thing, though, if this is going to work. Right?”

He'd gone into the tunnels for a bit of peace and quiet, quite honestly; there are far too many people in the Archives these days, particularly when Elias decided to pop down, "to see how the research into the Unknowing was coming along." Jon had, in fact, entirely forgotten that Tim had all but been living down there for the past several weeks. Which is hardly enough to convince Tim that he'd had no intention of spying, now that he's got Jon cornered in one of the (thankfully) worm-free passages and seems convinced that there's still some kind of confession to extract before he's willing to let him go.

Jon had been a beta all his life. He was happy enough with it. It made his life easier. No unnecessary sexual pains, no submission or need to submit others to your will. But things have begun to change at The Magnus Institute, so much so that the increased stress caused a late presentation as an omega.
Elias, Martin and the others have to find a way to properly train their archivist before he hurts himself denying his new true nature.
*Elias is still not anyone’s favorite, but he’s not their enemy explicitly in this. Loosely follows the plot of the original, which some changes like Tim not dying*
