Summary
“Your eyes…”
Kuzuha glances up from his meal, chopsticks hanging above a particularly delicious cut of meat. Practically raw, just as he liked it.
Kanae was midway through taking off another piece of meat off the grill when his odd exclamation broke their comfortable silence.“What about them?” Kuzuha prompted him when he noticed the way Kanae trailed off, eyes falling demurely from his face towards the table and onto the meat sizzling away between them.
The noise of the restaurant fading into the background. Even in the yawning silence, there was a warmth- the metaphorical kind unrelated to the grill- in the space between them
Kanae’s brows furrowed, “Sorry, it’s too random to suddenly bring up.”It wasn’t like Kanae to suddenly blurt out a comment and then take it back. Kuzuha couldn’t help but be curious, “Random is fine. Go ahead and ask whatever it was you wanted.”
The human’s eyes lifted again, making eye contact through his lashes shyly. The expression perplexed Kuzuha momentarily, until the following words contextualised it, “I was going to ask why your eyes are… um… why they have hearts in them?”

Summary
“See me, the Fool I am,” Kuzuha says, with a certainty born from tireless repetition, “for I have come for you, and you alone.”
The World trembles, his staff falls from his grip ungracefully and keens into the cliffs far below with a tremendous boom so great it shakes the beach. Despite the deafening sound, Kuzuha keeps his gaze straight and without falter- into those beautiful unhidden eyes.
“See me!” he roars. Demands with petulance before a thing far greater than him.
Pain, anger, lust, and desperation… bleed into his voice, where it is lost beneath the roils of thunder and the crash of tsunamis- of the earth itself shaking apart.Series

Summary
“I don’t- I don’t want you to do this again because I care for you. Because when you do this it hurts me too, and I’m selfish so; please. Please don’t do it again.” - I can’t lose you again, not like this… is silently added, but it's a confession far too shameful to utter.
The first time had been his own fault, the second a wry gunshot, the third and fourth to an inexplicable illness… but like this? Kuzuha could barely breathe thinking of it, ironic given his lungs were nothing more than internal decorations… but the metaphor still stands.

Summary
There’s a tug on his sleeve.
His eyes crack open to see him.
Kanae and his wide red-rimmed eyes and snotty nose, uncouth, admittedly kind of gross.
He’d been like this lately. Plagued with night terrors, wailing in the dead of night, mortified by wet sheets and searching for comfort. It’s been a hard few nights, with little rest for both of them.Kuzuha is familiar enough with this routine by now and so, after a squinted look, he wordlessly raises his arm and the sheet to his small visitor and curls his arm around him.

Summary
There’s the sound of fabric rustling in the darkness beyond the light, though noticeably there is a distinct lack of footfall or breathing.
Were it not for Kanae’s familiarity with such a presence, he’d have certainly heeded the way the hairs on his neck raised and found his gun, but instead his fingers merely twine more securely around his quill as he tilts his head to enquire, “Aleksandr. What brings you?” -

Vash seems to pause at these words, caught off guard by them momentarily- if Wolfwood could be confident enough to read his expressions by now, that is.
Then, “What do you mean?” Vash cheerfully replies. Though Wolfwood had seen that sliver of hesitation. The crack Vash did well at hiding.“Emotionally,” Wolfwood decides to blunder as he takes a last drag of his cigarette and stamps it out on the sole of his shoe, “you… you’ve lost a few friends recently. How are you?”

He stretched his ringed fingers over the edge longingly, as though attempting to beckon the dark waves to rush up and consume him in their calm depths. For he yearned for an embrace, one so wholly he felt the roil of his insides scream for it.
Kanae wondered if the bottom of the ocean would serve to quiet the insistent scratching inside his brain.
He hangs his toes between the rail, letting them play on the edge of something eternal.

The person, whose voice sounded like that of a man’s, was quiet for a moment. When he spoke again, he seemed almost sullen, “You worry for what I am before you question my intentions… typical.”

Summary

Summary
“Are you okay?” he asks. The bustle of salarymen’s polished shoes and chatter of excited school children melt around them into irrelevance.
In lieu of an actual answer, a hitched breath leaves Kanae’s throat and he pushes his nose deeper into the clavicle of his throat. Kuzuha takes it nonetheless.

Summary
Kanae sighs hopelessly as he shuffles to sit up on his elbows, like this he can look down at him… like this, he feels a little less small. The question feels like a rock in his throat, unrefined, jagged… but solid.
“Can I kiss you?” he speaks, at last, after a long pause.
Kuzuha stares blankly at him for a few seconds. As though he expects it to be a prank.
But Kanae doesn’t break the silence. And neither does he.
Slowly those red eyes go wide; his expression going slack. -

Summary
“Why are you so cold?” Kanae asks him unexpectedly at some point near the end of the episode. His hand unoccupied by Kuzuha’s rubs the knuckles along his stomach ticklishly, to bring attention to the skin beneath.
“I’m a vampire, it’s normal, idiot,” he replies, albeit softly. The edges of his voice were muted by the quiet atmosphere. Were it anyone else, Kuzuha would’ve been self-conscious about that fact, but tonight it’s only him and Kanae.

“Al… eksandr?” came the quiet reply. And a face began to lift. Pale, with hollowed cheekbones. A man who wore the dirtied outfit of a priest looked upon him, his baby blue eyes had grown grey almost glassy, and in the delicate curl of his short ponytail the betraying grey hairs of stress.
