“Your eyes…”
Kuzuha glances up from his meal, chopsticks hanging above a particularly delicious cut of meat. Practically raw, just as he liked it.
Kanae was midway through taking off another piece of meat off the grill when his odd exclamation broke their comfortable silence.“What about them?” Kuzuha prompted him when he noticed the way Kanae trailed off, eyes falling demurely from his face towards the table and onto the meat sizzling away between them.
The noise of the restaurant fading into the background. Even in the yawning silence, there was a warmth- the metaphorical kind unrelated to the grill- in the space between them
Kanae’s brows furrowed, “Sorry, it’s too random to suddenly bring up.”It wasn’t like Kanae to suddenly blurt out a comment and then take it back. Kuzuha couldn’t help but be curious, “Random is fine. Go ahead and ask whatever it was you wanted.”
The human’s eyes lifted again, making eye contact through his lashes shyly. The expression perplexed Kuzuha momentarily, until the following words contextualised it, “I was going to ask why your eyes are… um… why they have hearts in them?”

Summary

The World trembles, his staff falls from his grip ungracefully and keens into the cliffs far below with a tremendous boom so great it shakes the beach. Despite the deafening sound, Kuzuha keeps his gaze straight and without falter- into those beautiful unhidden eyes.
“See me!” he roars. Demands with petulance before a thing far greater than him.
Pain, anger, lust, and desperation… bleed into his voice, where it is lost beneath the roils of thunder and the crash of tsunamis- of the earth itself shaking apart.Series

“I don’t- I don’t want you to do this again because I care for you. Because when you do this it hurts me too, and I’m selfish so; please. Please don’t do it again.” - I can’t lose you again, not like this… is silently added, but it's a confession far too shameful to utter.
The first time had been his own fault, the second a wry gunshot, the third and fourth to an inexplicable illness… but like this? Kuzuha could barely breathe thinking of it, ironic given his lungs were nothing more than internal decorations… but the metaphor still stands.

Summary
“You look nice,” Boothill blurts.
Fuck no. A notification pops in the corner of his vision that reads in loud letters: Shut your fucking trap.
Surprise flits about Argenti’s features, seeming to bounce between a few different emotions before finally setting on bashful.
“Such a compliment is unusual,” he says, after a moment, “especially from an honest soul such as yourself. I am honored to be held in such regard from someone I treasure dearly, and someone with as much passion for life as you.”
“I jus’ said you looked nice,” Boothill says lowly, picking at the threads of his pants.
“Did you mean it?”
“Why, ‘course.”
“Precisely,” Argenti says, as if that explains it all.
After the cults have been disbanded and the leads have been followed, Boothill finds himself stuck in Penacony against his will due to a blunder in the system. To make it worse, he has to survive the week in the company of Argenti—a Knight of Beauty who seems a bit too keen on making his acquaintance.
