Summary
Something, equal parts wariness and weariness, stirs in Olruggio’s eyes whenever Qifrey makes some reference to the future — when he indirectly promises a tomorrow, a next week, an ‘after your commissions are done’. It’s the subtlest thing, a flicker, a spark; someone who knew him less well might not pick up on it. But Qifrey knows Olruggio as well as he knows himself, and he can hardly in good conscience begrudge him his flinch of cynicism. Not when it’s wholly his own fault for having put it there.
Fool you once, shame on me. Fool you twice, still shame on me. Fool you thrice… well, if it’s any consolation whatsoever, I was fooling myself most of all.

“Is ‘it’ what I think it is?” Wolfwood asked, sounding the words out slowly. His brows were pinched in concentration, and Vash thought that was pretty cute too.
“Yeah,” he said, smile starting to falter at the edges. “Oh, please Wolfwood, would you?”
“Angel. Sweetheart.” Wolfwood pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. “Respectfully, we both know that I would let you do anything you want to me. But donuts? Really?”

Summary
When Wolfwood gives one final wave over his shoulder before disappearing from the bar, Vash has to smother his disappointed sigh.
Another night wasted.
For all his arrogance and bluster, Wolfwood is blissfully unaware of what's staring him straight in the face. Vash is going to have to change up his tactics to get the guy to even notice something is off. Otherwise, he's just going to keep ignoring every coy smile Vash gives him. He supposes that's what he gets for trying to get into an emotionally stunted assassin's pants.
Vash takes a sip of his drink and smacks his lips as he places the glass back onto the bar top.

I could fix him, Vash thought as he sat on the rickety stool in the quiet bar, watching Wolfwood keep a flailing Meryl back by placing his hand on her head and holding her in place. Vash crossed his legs uncomfortably as Wolfwood smirked, a devious little quirk of his lips that made Vash hot all over, and tried to be normal for five seconds.
It had been a couple years since Vash the Stampede last had sex. It wasn't that big of a deal, until Meryl hit the world's sexiest, bitchiest, most foul-mouthed priest on the planet with her car.
