Lae'zel had nothing left.
She'd lost her girlfriend, her job, and her will to keep going all in six months. So when Wyll invites her to his club, Hell's Bells, in an attempt to cheer her up, Lae'zel expects nothing from it. She does it largely to indulge him.
It's there she meets Wyll's friend Shadowheart -- a disk jockey who plays at his club. She's rude, she's blunt, she's nihilistic, she's very forward. But most of all, she's infuriatingly beautiful. She is everything Lae'zel didn't know she wanted. She is terrifying.
Lae'zel keeps returning anyway.
Modern AU - Shadowheart is a DJ, Lae'zel is a sad little puppy, and together they bring out the worst in each other. But also the best. And, in the end, the best of them wins. A tale of heartbreak, loss, recovery and, ultimately, connection.

Extremely sweet story I didn't know I needed. It was so good watching Kim grow into a person who is okay with nice things happening to them. And Knives was portrayed in such an interesting and compelling way, I don't think I'll be satisfied with any other fic's portrayal of her.

“It’s not a well ordered society.” Gideon knew where that was going, and she certainly didn’t have the time. She slapped a slip of paper onto the counter and said, “It’s secret santa.”
And there lay the source of all of her problems: handwritten in a script so neat and precise it could have been printed, Harrowhark Nonagesimus. And everyone knew that Gideon and Harrow hated each other.
So what if they had started taking smoke breaks together? So what if Harrow had helped her fold shirts just last week, in a store she didn’t even work in? So what if Harrow had laughed as the two of them did Jagerbombs at Palamedes’ Halloween party, the glint of her fake fangs flashing invitingly in the orange party lights? They hated each other. The two of them would both work in the mall until one of them inevitably strangled the other with her bare hands, and Gideon wouldn’t have it any other way.
Except that lately, Gideon had started to like Harrow.
Which made that slip of paper a fucking problem.

Gideon cocked her head to the side. “Is there a reason you’re waiting?” There was no judgement in the question— only genuine curiosity.
Perhaps it was this that made Harrow more inclined to answer. “I don’t have the time to look for someone new,” She shrugged. “And my available pool is… somewhat limited.”
“Well,” Gideon said, with just a hint of conspiracy in those glittering golden eyes. “If you ever want to change that, you have my number.”
What? What?
Harrow blinked. “What?”
Or: the five times Gideon and Harrow successfully bone, and the one time they don't.

Holy fucking shit this fic is so good. All the characters are gorgeously written, and I've screenshotted like 10 snippets that were the funniest fucking thing I've ever read.
Harrow is a touch mean at first for my taste, but softens up so well. Gideon is funny as hell and just the kindest person.
Also never thought of dulcamades. Instant head canon.
Lobotomise my brain so I can read this for the first time again.
