Annabeth stepped back from him until the backs of her knees hit his bed. She wobbled a little before giving up her fight with balance and gravity and letting herself fall onto the mattress.
“I think I’m sick,” she croaked.
Percy had never heard her voice sound like this, not even when she was hoarse from crying; not when she spent the entire day yelling orders at him during capture the flag and sparring. She sounded miserable.
“I think you’re right,” he replied, scratching the back of his neck while he tried to gather some courage for his next words, hoping they’d sound as smooth as he wanted them to and not stupid and utterly cliché,“Want me to take care of you?”
She looked up at him with those big round eyes that drove him wholly insane. He would give her anything if only she asked.
Or, Annabeth is sick and went to Percy's apartment for help. He takes care of her.

The words sounded wrong the moment they left her mouth. Percy blinked, and confusion crossed his face first before concern deepened into something softer and more alarmed.
“Since when you don’t want to talk about something with me?”
Something inside her snapped painfully at the question he asked, for reasons she wasn’t quite sure she understood. She was hurting and very irritable and she was on the verge of tears for so, so long now.

Buck fumbles with the hose a little bit, but his instincts kick in and he catches it.

Still can’t figure out how to loosen his grip on it just a little, knuckles white with how hard he’s holding on, but he’s trying so hard to give Eddie space and time because he asked for it, because when they got together, Eddie couldn’t seem to stop looking at him when he asked Buck to be patient with him, couldn’t hide the nerves from his voice, the vulnerability of his open chest, the honesty in his fingers against Buck’s wrist where he’d held on so gently as if he was afraid to come any closer. So Buck is trying, to just sink into having it rather than wanting more, to let it be enough rather than him being too much, and he’s been doing good, mostly. He’s been doing good.
