The previously light-hearted vigilante scowled at him as he brushed frost roughly off his arm.
“Look, I get it. I really do, but with all of the big guns away we need you fighting-fit and you’re not helping anyone reducing yourself to this.”
Shouto bristled at the hand that waved at him, keenly aware of his shivering and the ice flaking off of his own skin. "What do you care?"

Scout knows it’s a ditch-out, a gentle bail that Sniper thinks is wrapped in padding. He doesn’t turn his head.
Windshield wipers click, metronomic. The world blurs by—a series of cosmic smears flowing into one dark tangle. Scout wants to ask if he means it, if next time isn’t just a neat fold they can tuck this into, but the question feels redundant already.
Instead, he says, “Yeah. Next time.” It's a soft landing, a cushion under the sharp edges of expectation. It leaves space for things to breathe; he wonders if that’s what Sniper wants.

He had heard screams in the middle of the night and had rushed to find the RED Scout on the ground, covered in dirt, with his leg twisted in the nastiest way possible.
"This isn't how 'training' is supposed to work either mate, but here you are."
This was written as a gift to my lovely girlfriend, who's currently submerged into the Team Fortress 2 fandom. The idea and basis of the fic, up until the very moment where Scout returns to properly thank him, were her idea. I simply expanded on that.
People tend to ship RED Sniper with BLU Scout but given how my girlfriend also very much ships RED Sniper with BLU Spy, I knew she preferred this arrangement better.

He presses the palm of his hand hard against the skin of his cheek. When he doesn’t feel anything, he pulls his arm away from his skin and hits .
It stings, but it fades. He does not feel the burn of acid or the ache of skin removed.
Shit, he thinks to himself, pushing himself to his feet. Skin is a muscle that can be lost and replaced easily with his overworking cell system; the organelles in his body are eager to aid, and scabs are what they have been trained for. His cells will repair themselves over and over again, just so he can kill himself over and over again.
So he should be back in his shitty room in his shitty house in his shitty town.
But he isn’t.

No, sending the rest of the crew away before they ran out of air or froze to death was for the best. No matter what way Kenny looked at it, it had been the right call. The only call.
Except he hadn’t sent everyone away, had he? A certain stubborn mechanic had refused to leave, and now they were both going to die.
His ships engine is kaput, and Kenny's running out of air.

It should be easy for someone as perfect as Scout to break the curse, right?
