To be fair, Anakin wasn’t actually the one intended for the position; the role of ‘captured slave with a fiery attitude’ was initially supposed to go to Ahsoka. But upon seeing the disguise they picked out for her (if it could even be called a disguise, considering how karking little it covered!), Anakin had immediate objections.
What Anakin failed to realize, however, was that it now meant that he had to wear it.*
or,
Anakin goes undercover as the slave on the Zygerria mission instead of Ahsoka. Things ensue.

Summary
The mission was supposed to be relatively simple. In-and-out. As easy as they come.
But when was anything ever easy for Anakin?
The correct answer: never. Force knows nothing could ever just be smooth-sailing for him, there always had to be some sort of complication - as shown by the fact that him and Obi-Wan were currently running for their lives from battle droids and blaster cannons on the coldest, iciest, most deserted planet Anakin had ever encountered. And all for a mission they only partially completed.
Or,
Anakin and Obi-Wan end up stranded in a cave on a freezing cold planet after trying to infiltrate a Seperatist base.
