Summary
Herman didn’t get sick often since his water powers would essentially wash all sorts of bacteria away. However, it didn’t make him immune to all illnesses ever. It just meant that whenever he got sick, it hit him twice as hard since his body wasn't accustomed to being ill.
So that was where he was; sweating profusely on his plastic-covered bed, practically flooding his room. All while his grandma was downstairs cooking some soup. He could smell the rich scent of beef broth and boiling potatoes, making his stomach grumble. All because of a slight fever.
In which Waterboy is sick and Flambae begrudgingly goes to check on him. He gets more than he bargains for.

"Wright." Edgeworth says, his tone as level as ever; but Phoenix has a passing thought that there might be a tinge of concern to his voice. Only then does he realize that he must've been blankly staring at a wall for a couple of minutes. "Are you okay?"
Phoenix just tries to smile again. It's what he does best.
"Of course I am-! Just... deep in thought. Why are you asking?"
And yet, Edgeworth's eyebrows furrow.
"You're shivering." Okay, Phoenix is either going crazy, or Edgeworth's tone actually sounds soft. "Isn't your medicine be wearing off by now?"

Or: Phoenix might have insane luck, but it doesn't change the fact he's sick. Once Iris is declared innocent, he doesn't have to push through the pain anymore. It turns out more difficult for him than expected.

“Better?” He asked once he was all changed. Robert weakly nodded and leaned against the couch again. He whined. “What’s the matter?” Chase asked, taking a seat on Robert’s coffee table.
Robert just seemed to mutter and grumble, but his face was pained. His voice was croaky and breathy. Chase hummed in thought, leaning forward and brushing hair from Robert’s eyes. He still looked pale and weak.
“Maybe you are sick. You’re really pale.” He thought out loud, getting a disapproving groan from Robert. Chase’s hand moved from brushing hair from his eyes to be on the back of his forehead. “You don’t feel that warm.” He noticed how Robert seemed to be tilting his head in the direction of Chase’s hand.
Chase turned to the end of the couch and lay down a pillow that was there, before placing a hand on Robert’s shoulder. “Let’s get you layin’ down, kid.”

Robert was sick. He knew that. He could tell based on the fact that he threw up twice already; he was shivering despite being wrapped in blankets; he felt freezing despite how his skin was hot and clammy, and, of course, because there was a damning number on that dumb thermometer in his hands. But no one was home. No one would be home, either, so he was sick and alone. Normally Robert was just alone. Chase wouldn’t be here until later, like, 4:30pm or something. It was 7:48am and Robert thought he was going to die.

He doesn't know how long it's been and he doesn't really care, not when Chase is laid up in a hospital bed, barely breathing, with a heart that 's had to be restarted three times since Robert careened into the hospital bay in his old wheezing beater and begged the nurses for help.
