- Maria Robotnik to Shadow, Sonic X Shadow GenerationsDuring quieter times, Shadow makes plans to visit Spagonia, wishing to experience the cooking Maria swore by when he met her in White Space in an attempt to get to know her life on Earth better. (Un-)Fortunately, Sonic has the time show him around the place, which turns out to be a bigger help than Shadow would've ever thought. Now if only that didn't also make it harder for the hybrid to keep up his prickly walls that he's set up ever since that one fateful encounter with Sonic on the lily field...
Perhaps Sonic has been right all along and he should be more honest with himself.
As Shadow struggles, he quickly discovers that Sonic is hiding some secrets of his own.

Summary
“You know, you should smile more.”
Whipping around, Shadow suppressed the vicious urge to snarl. Those words, that insult, had mocked him from the very day he started working in the café. It was usually reserved for more older folk, that were as Rouge had claimed, probably just trying to joke around with him. Shadow did not find it amusing.
The voice’s owner stood in front of the counter, a hint of amusement glinting behind bright green eyes and a toothy grin which matched his cheeky expression. Biting his tongue to resist cursing out a customer, Shadow just curled his lip up, baring his sharp teeth in a malicious sneer.
“Better?”
The vibrant blue hedgehog was not dissuaded, instead, his cheeks puffed out as he spluttered with laughter. Shadow relented into a deep frowned.
“Man, you really need to work on your ‘smiling’.” He held his hands up to use air quotes on the last word, meeting the red stare again with gleaming green eyes.
Shadow decided he didn’t like this mobian.
