Being a prince is not fun. Well, to be fair, I'm not really a prince. Most of the time I'm not in the underworld, and I'm just a normal demigod. As normal as being the son of hades can get, at least. The last thing I expected was to see three teenagers and a werewolf adult in my fathers castle, pretending to be ghosts. Really. Stupid. Ghosts.

Summary
Nearly three years ago, the Golden Guard fell through a portal and landed in the woods outside Gravesfield. Nearly three years ago, Luz found a witch boy lost in the woods behind her house.
Just about every waking moment since that day has been spent in search of a way back to the Boiling Isles, and every single one of them has fallen flat. But Hunter refuses to give up. The humans are nice, almost frustratingly so at times, but the burdens he carries are ones they can’t possibly understand. He is the Golden Guard – he is a servant of the Emperor, a loyal nephew to an ailing uncle – the Titan has plans for him. He can’t give up.
And then, without warning, without even trying, Luz stumbles through a portal door – one controlled by a notorious wild witch, no less! – and things become complicated.
(Or: Hunter gets unofficially adopted into the Nocedas pre-canon, and categorically refuses to believe Belos might be anything less than great before canon starts. You can imagine how this might cause problems.)

And, just like the day they were sent into Emperor Belos' mind, they accidentally step on a vial of a strange liquid. But it's okay, they've been in mindscapes before. And Luz brought the Walki-Talki; they just need Eda to notice they're gone and get them back out.
But it's more complicated than that.

Have you ever heard the phrase "The world isn't black and white"? You probably have. There has always been and always will be a gray area. Where one is neither hero nor villain.
Izuku had never thought about the gray area until he was twelve and considered vigilantism. He threw the idea out the window quickly though.
Tenya hadn't even realized the gray existed until he was fifteen and went after Stain in revenge. He swore to never do that again.
Ochako almost lived in the gray. When she was thirteen, she almost stole money from somebody. She changed her mind and promised herself she'd never.
Tsuyu understood there was a gray area. There was actually a vigilante where she lived that saved her life when she was seven. She didn't think she'd ever live in the gray herself.
Shoto had learned of the gray. That he was supposed to beat them and arrest them and it didn't matter if they died. He learned of it, and he loved it. He loved UA more.
But they were betrayed by All Might himself. The epitome of good. the perfect model of the 'white' area. And yet helping people always has been and always will be at least one of their goals. So they turned to the gray. And they thrived there.

Maybe his idol told him he couldn't be a hero, but Izuku wasn't willing to accept that. It was everything he had ever wanted and now, nearly all he had left to hope for. He was nothing without his passion. How could he give that up? So he would be a hero. He had to be. Still, he needed some sort of edge, some advantage over those that had been gifted from the get-go. It was too late to go the honest way about it. He had wasted too much time, and that left him with too little options. Oh well, vigilantism it is!
Or: Izuku fights crime with the power of friendship and a baton.
