Rodger's eye narrows, he looks thoughtful for a moment. "Midday?" His voice cracks and croaks with disuse, it sounds raspy beyond regular morning timbre, near painful and it makes Astro backtrack quickly.
"Are you sick?" Before Rodger can even think to protest, Astro's hand had already wormed beneath the blankets to check his temperature, recoiling swiftly as a displeased frown tugged on his face. "You're burning up."

"We can't... that's not fair, not to him!" Toodles fired back as she watched Rodger turn away, returning to the creaking, groaning machine. His hands moved mechanically, as if each turn of the wheel was draining the life from him. "Please, please... if something goes wrong, let it be my fault!" she begged, but her words were swallowed by the cold, empty air. He didn't turn around, didn't even flinch.
"You can't— you can't leave me down here!" Glisten's chimed "I'm Glisten... the same Glisten, not one of those things!" The words dripped from his mouth like poison, each one burning as it escaped his throat. "I'm not as... fabulous as before, but—" His laugh was a tired, bitter thing, more like a dying gasp. "I'm still the same!"
