Henry makes a valiant effort to glare at him, but his eyes flutter shut and he frowns like he’s not sure how it happened. He manages to blink them back open and says, “I’m fine.”
“You’re dead on your fuckin’ feet. Tell me what day it is and I’ll let you walk outta here on your own.”

Alex snorts. “Nice effort. Come on. I’m taking you to my room.” He picks up Henry’s bag and slings it over his shoulder with his own, and Henry gives him a squinty little frown. “Stop being cute,” Alex says.
“You stop being cute,” Henry mumbles. Then, “Fuck. Fine, I need a nap.”Alex steals a bag, makes a friend and learns some things about himself.

There are people in life that feel like rays of sun on one’s face, or the smell of cinnamon or the sound of bird call at dawn. These people are warm, and they are familiar, and they are creatures I do not think one experiences often in life. These people are so bright that to exist closely beside them threatens to blind oneself.
I’ve come to realize you are the first person like that for me.
(Or: Alex and Henry are best friends, and Alex receives love letters to his locker from an anonymous admirer. These facts are not entirely unrelated.)
