"It's not just anything." Mike turned to look at him, and they were suddenly very close, close enough that Will could see the darker flecks in Mike's eyes, could count his freckles if he wanted to. "You're incredible. You know that, right?"
Will couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. Could only stare at Mike's face inches from his own and try to remember why leaning forward would be a terrible idea.
Mike's eyes dropped to Will's mouth for just a second. Maybe it wasn't so terrible of an idea. It would be so easy... to reach out and touch.
Then Mike was pulling back, clearing his throat, looking flustered. "Anyway. Um. Should we-"
What happened in those 18 months in the Wheeler house between S4 and S5 that made Will so hopeful... or, as the kids call it, MWTFDYD Gate.

Life is back to normal in Hawkins, and everything seems to settle down the way it used to be. Will has a boyfriend, and Mike Wheeler is definitely, absolutely fine with that. Apart from this new, vicious feeling that now seizes his chest on a nearly daily basis.

Summary
My take on what happened during those 18 months. It will be focusing on Will struggling with his nightmares but rejecting help, as he doesn't want to be a burden, until he can't anymore. The povs will be in 3rd person and alternating.
Bear with me, I promise, you'll be rewarded with the sweetest interaction ever and the chapters kinda keep getting longer

Mike thinks he might just drown in fondness for Will, when he hears that. He quickly nods and replies softly: "Yeah, yeah, sure"
Will doesn't wait. He crashes into Mike and clings onto him, yet again, but not as desperate and horrified as before. He is barely shaking anymore and he also stopped crying.
Mike is relieved. By Will's amount of sobbing, he's sure the boy is going to be severely dehydrated in the morning. He would love to offer to bring him a glass of water, but he is certain, that Will does not want him to let go, let alone leave, right now.

Hey guys! Who else was upset about the Stranger Things ending????
Everybody? Good.
For those of you who don't know me, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Theseus_Katsuki, the crazy person who is currently rewriting Lego Ninjago in six different POV's because I got sick and tired of watching a fifteen year long slow-burn that isn't going to happen. I'm quite literally known as the Ninjago Re-Write person.
The Byler scenes that were originally confirmed to be in S5V2 and the finale are rumored to have all been cut by Netflix, and the Duffers practically confirmed Byler won't be canon.
Therefore, with the power invested in me (a half empty energy drink can and an unholy amount of gummy bears), I present to you a complete re-write of the entire Stranger Things Series fueled by nothing but Byler rage.
Because in every timeline, every possibility, there is nowhere that William Byers wouldn't follow Michael Wheeler.

The taller boy lets out a huff of air. "Jeez, I've been thinking about this for like a year. You'd think I would have planned out what I was going to say by now." Mike says, running a hand through his already messy black hair.
"Nothing to be scared of." Will assures his friend. "It's just me." He and Mike have been through plenty of times far more harrowing than a conversation. Even conversations Will had had nightmares about for years always turned out better than expected. There's nothing Mike could say to him that should spark more fear than a Demogorgon or the choice to come out to all his loved ones at once.
Still, Mike laughs nervously. "Yeah, it is you." He licks his lips and the brunette does his best not to track the movement. "Okay. So. I guess I've just been doing a lot of thinking since you told us all about you. You know, about you being gay."

“So… not him, then,” Mike murmured to himself, thoughtful.
He let his gaze drift back to the blond. The guy was looking towards Will again. Wait, no. He was staring at Mike and Will’s feet, tangled together beneath the table. The boy looked up, caught Mike’s eyes for a fleeting moment, then blinked and looked away, shoulders slumping slightly.
Mike couldn’t help the little surge of smug satisfaction - and relief. He shoved it aside and turned back to Will.
Will smiled across the table at him and squeezed Mike’s ankle again.
“No,” Will said softly. “Not him.”

Summary
What if the duffers actually cared about their queer characters? What if the lesson wasn't that you don't deserve love and that after suffering a lifetime of abuse you have to sacrifice yourself because nothing good can happen while you live? What if season 5 didn't suck?
After the world tore itself open, things in Hawkins started to look a bit different. The party and the military are separately working to solve this problem; the party by hunting Vecna, the military by hunting Eleven. The group is frustrated and doubtful after their major loss, but they are determined to succeed, the world needs them too. New abilities come to light, as do old feelings. Will the party survive the fight for the world and the relationship altering feelings that come to light?
