"You're a space wizard, Murderbot. You'll hate it. It'll be great." - The Force, maybe

If Murderbot ever proves the Force is sentient, it will plot to murder the shit out of the Force.

So maybe I should’ve noticed I had bullshit magic powers sooner, but in my defense I didn’t think magic was real. Most sane people would insist magic isn’t real.

Wait, whoops, the ghosts would claim it’s not magic. It’s “the Force” (in case you’re wondering, yes, you can hear the capitalization), and I’m a “Force-sensitive” which means I’m able to manipulate the mysterious, supernatural (but definitely not magical) force that a bunch of old dead monks decided to name the Force. (Not that I’m making fun of their naming sense. It’s apt even if it must’ve gotten confusing sometimes.)

    Summary

There were only a few things Idra knew about the Great Avar. He was, of course, related to Idra through his father's line; a younger brother of Nemolis Drazhar, born to the scorned, unfortunate Chenelo Zhasan. That was the source of his claim to the Barizheise throne: he was the grandson of the previous Great Avar, Maru Sevrasched. He knew that his half-uncle took as his standard a prancing lion known as the Corat' Anmeir, Cruelty of the Sun, in partial tribute to his grandfather's Corat' Arhos.

It also might have been a nod to his Drazhadeise blood, which would have been bold if that was truly the intention, given that he had been disowned at fourteen.

(Or: In the fifth year of the reign of the Emperor Edrenechibel IX, the Great Avar Maia Sevraseched came to the Ethuveraz for a state visit.)

    Summary

Arlu's situation was what her father would have called delicate. She had willingly taken the oaths of a novice, binding herself to the Athmaz'are until she either completed her education or was dismissed. She was not yet of age, but at fourteen she was old enough to speak for herself, and her father had given his blessing very enthusiastically—her sister had said he was 'living vicariously'. Arlu belonged to the Athmaz'are until such time as her novitiate was completed; even if, like all novices, she was still technically a member of her father's house, it was not meant to matter.

But her father's house was Drazhada, and if there was one thing Arlu had known since she was a little girl, it was that that made all the difference.

Arlu Drazhin joins the Athmaz'are. It is a dream come true, and a greater challenge than she could have ever expected.

    Summary

I was swept along without a chance to lay eyes on the golden egg that the Queen must surely be protecting, or the figure of the Crown Prince Shallyr, who had no doubt been bound and enchanted into the perfect candidate to the Impress the new Gold. She would be permitted to make no other choice. The Gold’s rider was the Emperor.

Eritanyr’s Golden Queen - Xanthippi, her name was Xanthippi - let out a bugling clarion call, and jerked my attention away from my Helene.

Xanthippi dropped her head to meet my eyes, amused despite her pain, despite everything.

Artorin Damara, she said. I always thought it would be you.

She had let go of everything else; hope of a retrieval, hope of an apology, hope of seeing her sisters or her son again. It would be enough to know. She did not have to do anything with the knowledge. Ulis would understand. Surely he would.
"To the best of your knowledge, Othala— is the Archduke Maia alive and safe?”
    Thara Celehar stared at her for a very long moment, his grip on her trembling fingers very firm. Then he said;
    “Sister— he is.”

In a Thu-Tetar nunnery, the Dach'othalo asks a Sister of Ulis: Did you enter this place as Chenelo Drazharan?
