Summary
Dennis didn’t blame Jane Doe's mother, whoever she was. He didn’t blame his own mother for not loving him, either. Heaven knew she’d tried. Love just didn’t work that way.
But it wasn’t Jane Doe’s fault either.“I can’t protect you”, Trinity told Baby Jane Doe as she checked in on her. She took a moment to readjust her blanket, wondering what her life would be like. Probably pretty shitty.
Or: How Trinity and Dennis end up with a baby (featuring Dr. Robby)

Summary
Robby held out the granola-bar he’d for some reason decided to bring. He didn’t question it, because he didn’t really want to know the very obvious answer to why he’d go out of his way to make sure Langdon got something in his stomach at least.
“Oh”, Langdon said, looking at the bar. “Thanks.”Basically just Robby trying to pretend like he doesn't care about Langdon, while going out of his way in caring for Langdon. Can be read as a ship-fic, but in my personal opinion ya'll are missing out by ignoring the posibility of having deeply affectionate, tender friendships.

Summary
Usually there would be somebody checking in on Dennis at least. If not Robby, then Samira, Mel or Trinity. Today though Robby was more occupied with avoiding Dr. Langdon than anything else, Samira was in a bad mood, Mel was distracted and now Trinity was mad at him. Which left Dennis more or less on his own, a horrifying reality for somebody who was barely even a doctor.
By the time he remembered to check on Louie it was just a bit longer than he’d have liked, but not enough to cause any panic. He was still checking more often than protocol necessitated, and Louie had been nothing but stable all day.
Had.
“Which senior-resident did you report to for this case?” Robby was pulling off his gloves with too much force. There was a snapping-sound as the second one tore.
“I- I don’t think there was one.”

Summary
Langdon is doing good. Not well, not really, but good. He supports Mel where he can, he does good work. He pays attention to the way his coworkers react to him, learns which are uncomfortable with him and gives them space. He takes Robbys harsh words without complaint. He's doing good.
He just can't think about the upcoming day. The one year aniversary of his sobriety. Because if he does, he will start to think about all the pain it took to get there, all the pain that it still is. He'll think about how the people he works with should know what day is coming up but besides Mel nobody is likely to care. He'll think about how he went through hell to get back here, to prove to Robby that he was still good, and how Robby won't even look at him.
Langdon is doing good. He is not doing well. Support comes from where he'd least expect it. -

Summary
Mel is doing fine. A bit tired, maybe. A bit stressed. A bit easily overwhelmed by bright lights and sudden changes and too many noises at once. Usually she can deal with all of this on her own. Today, she can't. She's fairly certain she's going to loose her job.
Or: A lot of people care about Mel and want to support her. Sadly none of them communicate well enough to figure shit out before she ends up having a full-on melt-down, but it's the thought that counts.

Bookmarker's Notes
Very comforting, great character-work especially on Eddie as autistic; good to re-read during low points / depressive episodes to feel better

Summary
Who is Kaz Brekker?
Most people would say he's a delinquent, cold-hearted, ruthless, bastard of the barrel.
Most people don't know that Kaz Brekker is a lonely child forced to grow up in foster care after his parents died, forced to grow up in foster care alone after Jordie died, forced to do whatever it takes to survive, even if that means putting a few people into the hospital.
Kaz Brekker has been abused again and again and again by the people he's told will protect him, people he's told will love him and treat him kindly and fairly.
Kaz Rietveld was a nine-year-old boy who had just lost his parents when he moved to live with Jakob Hertzoon, the first of many people who will let him down. Luckily for Kaz Brekker, that kid is dead, he died alongside Jordie that day, and now Kaz Brekker is moving in with the Fahey Family, Mr. Fahey, Jesper, and Nina, people who want to help Kaz get over his past trauma's but ever since Jordie died all Kaz knows is that appearances can be deceiving and he vowed to never trust another foster family ever again.

Summary
Kaz Brekker has only known pain, fear and abuse from those who are meant to protect him, growing up in the corrupt foster system in Ketterdam, his most recent 'carer' being Pekka Rollins and the Dime Lions. Now Kaz is joining the Fahey family - Colm and his son, Jesper, Jesper's boyfriend, Wylan, and Jesper's foster siblings, Inej, Nina and Matthias.
Is there any way he can actually accept love and care after a lifetime of both his will and trust being repeatedly broken?
This is inspired by 'Fostered Crows' by KingLueyOfTheLab - which is a modern day foster family story and is amazing and I suggest you all go read it as well!
