Sneeg, even in the dark, looks beat all to hell. There’s blood all over his hoodie, matted in the ends of his hair; he’s clutching at a wound on his shoulder that looks to be the cause of it.
“Holy shit, Charlie-”
They stumble into each other in a painful imitation of a hug that mostly includes Charlie trying not to bang the giant bloody wound on Sneeg’s left shoulder with his head and Sneeg sloppily slinging his free arm around Charlie’s shoulder, but they get the point across.
“What happened, are you- where’d you go, where were you- holy shit, man,” Charlie babbles desperately into Sneeg’s chest before pulling back. “What happened to you?”
“I tried to run, but that fucking- TV thing, it got me, I guess I passed out, I just remember waking up. I was trying to find you and Ranboo,” he responds, and keeps going before the voice starts again.
“PLEASE, LET ME GO! LET ME GO!” the voice echoes, and Charlie’s heart just about stops as he slowly lifts his head up from Sneeg’s healthy shoulder.
“Fuck,” he whispers distantly. “That’s where Ranboo went.”

But then, there was a moment of noise.
And in less than the amount of time it would take to buy a ticket, everything changes.
Or: On the second morning of the long walk all broadcasts are abruptly cut due to 'outside interference', there is still a long way to walk to reach potential safety (Garraty's mom's place) but with the competition dismantled an opportunity to look out for each other arises and friendship takes precedence.

finally not doomed to spend the rest of their lives in entertainment purgatory, ranboo, charlie, and sneeg learn that they have a lot to do in order to make any sort of return into the real world. and of course, showfall entertainment would do anything to get three of their most important cast members back. in a perfect world, healing is linear, and the three of them are okay after a month of being free. in reality, things are going to get so much worse before they can get any better.
