    Summary

“I would have married you, you know,” Ilya says, eyes determined but yielding, genuine and raw. “For real.”

And it doesn’t feel like the gift of control. It doesn’t feel like momentum, and Shane doesn’t know how to take these words and create direction.

It feels like a weight in his stomach and a fire to his plans and like the rug has been yanked from under him so quickly that he’s falling before he can put his hands up.

And all Shane can say in response, unplanned and unpracticed, is, “I didn’t even think you liked me that much.”

    OR

Post-tuna melt incident, Ilya can't return to Boston due to problems with his visa. Shane offers him a place to stay.

    Summary

Weeks later, when the news finally breaks, the headlines will call it a “catastrophic brain injury”.

They’ll analyze the hit from every angle, trying to find just what went so wrong. It was clean, it was legal… and yet it somehow slammed Shane Hollander into the ice hard enough to end his career.

    -

or, another take on shane’s injury in episode 5 being much, much worse.

    Summary

    Ilya Rozanov has a gift.

He can speak to animals, which has earned him an incredibly successful career as a pet psychic, and far too much information about what people do when they think their pets aren’t watching.

    Shane Hollander has a problem.

His cat, Pork, is permanently miserable. After exhausting every sensible option, Shane turns to the supernatural for assistance.

After their first appointment, Pork grows visibly happier - his cat’s found a hobby and renewed sense of purpose for achieving his only goal: to destroy Ilya for good.

    Summary

Shane’s ex-girlfriends keep coming out as queer. He’s trying to be supportive, he really is, okay? Listen, he’s an ally! But it’s sort of becoming a problem. For pretty obvious reasons, because people are definitely starting to notice—Ilya most of all.

(AKA, I give Shane the most absurd queer community and convoluted coming-of-age journey of all time and it still somehow gradually makes things better in the long run.)

    Summary

“You should share your location with me,” is the first thing Ilya says when their next Facetime call connects.

“Oh. Um. Why?” Shane did not think Ilya was going to glean any interesting information from that. Shane liked his routines, and his routines included his apartment, the Bell Centre, and his now rerouted running trail.

“There is a man stalking you all over Montreal, in case you have forgotten.” Ilya arches an eyebrow, his mouth pinching unhappily at the corner.

Or: Shane acquires a stalker from that night in Mexico. He tries to deal with it alone, until he no longer can.
