“Hey Kaoru~” Kojiro sung, ignoring the unsettled feeling in his stomach watching his best friend’s eyes follow him along without even the care to turn his head like some sort of freakish security bot.
Yet, Kaoru did not entertain the humour. “Why are you late?” he breathed out coldly. Kojiro had ruined the peace of the room, right when Kaoru had managed to dissociate out the window for a carefree day.
“Oh come on! Don’t you know what day it is?!”
“Yeah... Tuesday...?” Kaoru muttered with a matter-of-fact and rather condescending tone.

Summary
Many years ago, beings of all kinds lived amongst humans in peace.
And in war.
There were the Imps, of manipulation and games, tricksters of the forest; Nymphs of air, land and sea, beauty which radiated from each and every one; the Tanuki shapeshifters of jovial humor; and Cupids, of light and dark, creatures of love, and hate, forever in blood-war with one another.
Yet now, the world has seen its calm and these creatures died out; only remaining in traces, scattered through bloodlines for centuries.
And finally, pure-blood humans could rule the land as it was meant to be.
Yet...
One subclass had never returned in the blood that ran through human veins.
That subclass was Cupids.

“Jesus, dude, what’s in this-” Kaoru Sakurayashiki groaned, dropping a box that he had been holding down on to the floor with a soft, but not that quiet, thud. They’d been moving boxes upstairs to Oka Shokichi, the new manager of Dope Sketch’s, new office for about a week, and had finally gotten the last ones upstairs.

Shokichi’s father, owner and previous manager, landed himself in the hospital. He’d gotten sick - bad and fast.

However, since this event had led Oka to becoming the new manager earlier than already intended, he, of course, was dragging Kaoru to help.

In other words:
When Oka finally needs to take over Dope Sketch, Kaoru himself too had his own plans on what to do with his life, ones that nobody was aware of.
