So. Martin isn't expecting anything to happen. But then, one day, something...does happen. It happens when Martin is passing Jon in the hall, and stops to ask how he’s doing, because Jon always looks a little bit like hell these days, and it makes Martin feel like he has to do something, and useless small talk is pretty much all he can do, so that’s what he does. And instead of grunting or shrugging or mumbling something dismissive, Jon replies, with perfect, involuntary clarity, "Every part of me aches, and I would just about kill to have someone rub my shoulders right now."
There's a positively deafening silence as they both come to grips with this unprecedented turn of events. Then they both start talking at once.
"Ah," says Jon.
"Wow," says Martin, at the same time.

He peers between the branches at the spiderweb, gently pushing some away to get a better view. He wonders what kind of spider it is, if he can catch a glimpse of it. There aren’t that many types in England, but--
Oh. He doesn’t spot the spider, but there’s something else trapped in the middle of the web. A large moth, its wings splayed helpless and immobile. As he watches, he sees its legs wriggle ineffectually in the air. It’s a surprisingly pitiful sight, making Martin’s heart unexpectedly wrench a bit for the poor thing.

This was so good!!! As per usual of PrimTheAmazings fics lolol I absolutely adored this one especially tho. Both Martin and Jon were very cute, I liked how the magic worked in the world alot. Especially the differentiating between fae and fairies, I found that really neat! Also the marriage thing. Usually I'm not a fan of stuff where the main couple is forced into an evil ass marriage dynamic thing through magic unless if there's alot of care put into writing it, which this fic definitely does and in a way that felt very upsetting at times but very rewarding when the characters move past that and learn how to have a healthy relationship.
Also!!! The chapter with the Fledging eater??? So cool holy moly. Alot of the aspects of this fic could be so cool in a larger fantasy story and it's making me wish there was more 😭😭

Am not caught up with this one yet but holyyyy shit. Alot of time travel fix its tend to blend together for me, but this one is really unique and interesting and has so many cool concepts being lined up and I am SO curious about where it's going to end up. I have many things I want to say about this fic but a few key favorite things are:
-Jon being an asshole. Jon is already an asshole in Cannon but that doesn't stop me from loving and sympathizing with him, however in this fic he is VERY much someone I want to put in a little jar and shake around. I had to watch 30 minute Jon being in pain compilation because he was making me so mad. But it's not in a purely does bad things guy way, I have found myself both rooting for him to be and do better and also for Martin to stand up for himself and humble him a little bit. Which Martin does infact do! Which is so refreshing!!!! I'm so used to Martin being a pushover and I love it when he gets reasonably angry and bites back. It's good. I love it. Also it makes the scenes where he's kind so rewarding. When Martin had a headache and instead of being mean Jon asked him if he was okay... ough.... I like legitimately gasped and was kicking my feet and giggling. Then the contrast of that with Martin thinking about Jon basically leaving him to die. And him thinking that so casually, like that isn't a horrific thought to think about your partner doing. The fact he was lowk okay with that idea? Owowowowow
-The relationship dynamics in general are wonderful. Martin and Jon, Martin and Hannah, Martin and Sasha, Sasha and Jon... it feels so realistic and messy and saddening and also very very lovely.
-There were SO many lines that hit HARD and made me feel like I was physically punched in the gut. The part where Martin pointed out that Sasha only refers to Timothy hodge by his last name because yk. Timothy? Tim? Yowch!!!!!! The part where Martin realized that Jon was probably bribed into going to his birthday party but never admitted to it and literally took it to his grave? I'm going to hurl myself off of the nearest bridge what the hell (Only in a metaphorical sense)
-Sooooo many little details and story bits are being dropped on us and I am SO curious how they all tie together. I NEED to know more I am so fucking invested. Holy shit. I'm very envious of the authors abilities to write that in so seamlessly! It reminds me of the og podcast and how we get stuff dropped on us slowly and that's a very very cool writing skill to have. Lovely. Chef kiss.
I usually give up on time travel fix its by like 20 chapters in because evil adhd but this. Oughgghhhhh I'm so invested I NEED to know what's happening. I accidentally stayed up all night before work reading it because I just could not put it down and I was thinking about it while stocking shelves.

God, it really is him. Fine, he'll admit it. He had some fleeting fantasies of meeting the boy who gave him the sea glass cradled around his necklace once again. The one who actually made him feel a little less lonely in the world. But this was a bit ridiculous. He spares a glance back at Jon to flash a reassuring smile, pretending like he's not gathering every detail about his face. Martin chides himself for not realizing earlier. Minus the grey in his hair and obvious signs of aging, Jon really hasn't changed much.
Except he got handsome.
His mind supplies and Martin suppresses a groan. Now was not the time to unearth the boyish crush he really thought died years ago.
AU where Martin is a selkie living in Bournemouth. Him and Jon met once as children and Jon gave Martin a rare piece of sea glass that he now wears as a necklace. Jon is a hydrologist and visits Bournemouth again for a research study and they meet all over again. Some canon-typical danger in a few chapters (will be tagged), but overall lots of fluff and pining in between <3 we are very slow to update but won't leave this fic unfinished!
