“H-hold on!” Rumi finally spoke for the first time since shrinking, holding up her hand to beg for a moment. She needed to try to reverse this change somehow. What even triggered it? All she remembered was laying on the couch, cuddling with her girlfriends. And she looked down at Mira’s mouth.
Mira’s mouth…
She recalled a flash of a thought. A mere intrusive thought, Rumi assumed anyway. Mira’s mouth had been slightly parted, Rumi had caught a glance of her teeth and tongue. Her mind has unhelpfully supplied the thought. One that likely triggered this change.
I wish I could be inside of that mouth.

The question wasn’t unusual. Phil often broached topics like this during their conversations on the porch.
Wilbur hummed from beneath the shade of a large pair of sunglasses resting on the table. The sun had mostly set already, but sometimes the brightness of the porch lights bothered him. “Sure.”
“Is there any particular reason why you’re so afraid of water?”
This wasn’t the first time Phil had asked him a question that made him take pause, but it was the first time a question had ever sent ice running through his veins like it was now.
Wilbur took a deep, steady breath, glad to be hidden behind the tint of the sunglasses. He settled on an easy answer. “It’s dangerous.”
Phil hummed his agreement. “It can be. But lots of things are dangerous.”
Not like water, Wilbur wanted to say.

Virgil a newbie in training and isn't fully seen as a team player mainly by Roman and Logan. Patton is the only one on his side whenever he is feeling pressured.
Virgil’s secret of his ability to grow when his emotional core goes out of control has been revealed which is only a characteristic of the Dark Sides. Thus, Virgil finds himself in a dangerous situation that only his friends can help him out of, but first he needs to trust them.
Yet, why do the Dark Sides exist and why is Virgil so different from them? What truth is hiding just out of reach?
