Summary
The War of the Ring is won. What remains is harder: building something that lasts without the wizards, the Rings, and the immortal wisdom that carried the Third Age this far.
A series of glimpses into the first year of the Fourth Age — councils and kitchens, letters and quiet rooms where the real work of a new order gets done. Faramir governs a broken land and the ghost of his father’s voice. Arwen builds healing institutions with no template to follow. Éowyn and Faramir root a marriage in unfamiliar soil. Thranduil watches to see whether the new king understands what his kingdom actually needs. In Mordor, tens of thousands of leaderless orcs remain — the danger the songs won’t mention yet. And above it all, a ranger - Aragorn - must come into his own as King of the Reunited Kingdom and usher in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth.

Summary
It is four years after the fall of Sauron. Gondor is thriving in the care of Aragorn and his Steward, Boromir. Aragorn decides that it is time to visit his realms to the west, so he goes on a Royal Progress, leaving Gondor in his Steward's care. Boromir falls into a new kind of darkness from which he must rescue himself.

Summary
Saruman believes that Isildur's Heir is carrying the ring, so he sends his orcs to capture the Men of the Fellowship. Aragorn and Boromir are taken prisoner at Parth Galen and brought to Orthanc. In the days that follow, the two men forge a friendship that endures through torture, war, blood, betrayal and the trials of kingship.
This is an AU that picks up at the final scene of the Fellowship of the Ring movie, then takes off on a course roughly parallel to the two later books.
Rated Mature for violence.
