He knows that it isn’t healthy but as he falls asleep, he pictures the boy sprawled out on the couch. Starting the coffee machine in the morning. Watering the plants on the balcony.

Hawks watches him with those golden, golden eyes. They shine like molten metal in the afternoon sun.
“You know I’ve done some– pretty despicable shit, alright? This is my chance to– turn my life around, or fucking whatever."
Hawks scoffs, hair bouncing with the motion. He pins Touya with another narrow-eyed look, "are you done? If I was younger, I'd definitely fall for that."
It's hard to remember that they're not in their mid-twenties pussyfooting around anymore. Touya has lost so many years that he's not really aware that time passes. Hawks has lost that youthful, naive look that Touya was half-sure was a farce to weasel his way into the League. He's probably a little pressed that Touya cockblocked him from a gold mine of information.
Maybe he's mad about his wings.
“C’mon,” Touya pleads. Fuck his pride, he guesses, “I’ve applied to Universities and shit, I volunteer at the community center. I don’t kidnap teenagers and hold them hostage, or threaten to light people on fire. What more can you fucking want?”
“You didn’t hold the door open for me."
“That–” fuck him. “Okay, fine, fuck, yes. I didn’t– hold open the fucking door, whatever. Do I have to be fucking perfect?”
