Summary
Steve Harrington struggles with another fairly sleepless night, dreaming of the horrors that transpired two days ago. Hawkins has fallen into ruin, Max is in a coma, Vecna may still be alive and worst of all, Eddie Munson died in the Upside Down.
But with the flicker of a light Steve finds he's not so alone in his vacant house, and that someone desperately needs his help.

Summary
Having dealt with the Upside-down, Demogorgons, the Mind Flayer, Russian spies and telekinetic kids, Steve thought he had seen it all. Yet when a little night fishing with Dustin dredges up the famed "Creature of Lover's Lake", Steve soon realizes that his life will never be the same.
Now saddled with a literal fish-out-of-water, Steve must now keep up with the energetic and endlessly curious merman Eddie, all the while keeping him safe and hidden from the scientists of Hawkins Lab that hope to recapture him. And to further complicate things, every time Eddie turns one of his sunny dimpled smiles at him, Steve's heart begins to the race. Can he let himself fall in love with a merman? Or are they doomed to be forever torn apart?

His heart feels like it’s beating a hundred miles an hour. Eddie groans from the sofa Steve has decanted him on. Nancy and Robin are both trying to bandage him up as best they can, Dustin fluttering anxiously nearby.
Nancy’s practiced hands are skilful, looping lengths of ripped t-shirt around Eddie’s torso and legs and fastening them tight. Blood blooms through the cotton in deep red rosettes.
It’s not until Steve actively looks up - at the trailer’s non-pulsing, non-squelching, perfectly gate-free ceiling - that it hits home.
The gate is closed.

"It has been a month since Eddie Munson died and the world went to shit.
When he saw Dustin holding Eddie's bloodied body in his arms, crying and screaming for the man to wake up again… And knowing that Steve couldn't do shit to bring Eddie back, to stop the hurt from Dustin – from stopping the hurt from himself – made it worse.
Steve was supposed to take care of everyone, to make sure everyone came back safe and alive, but he failed. He failed to protect Eddie Munson, to protect the man who did absolutely nothing wrong. Steve couldn't even take his body with him, to give him a proper burial. Fuck.
And now he had to listen to these stupid people berating him, saying how shitty of a person Eddie was, how they want to kill him."

Summary
Eddie Munson doesn't mind working at the Family Video Store. It's a nice sense of normalcy (not to mention money) and he gets to see Robin more because of it. However, between working together and sharing the same best friend, he's also been seeing a lot more of Steve Harrington.
He wants nothing more than to enjoy mindless fun with his friends now that everything with Vecna is over, but Eddie's finding it hard to move on from what happened. Even if the strangest thing in his life right now was simply the fact he and Steve Harrington might actually be friends.

Even after discovering alternate dimensions and almost being mauled to death by demobats, the most surprising thing about this whole experience is being surrounded by a group of friends he loved. Most surprising of all was that one of those friends was Steve 'the hair' Harrington.

An alternative ending to season 4 where Dustin manages to get Eddie to a hospital and he lives! This starts as a different happy ending to volume 2 and ends up being a steddie fic. (Title is from Take on Me by a-ha)

Sure, his subconscious' version of Eddie Munson makes some weird comments about being alive in the Upside Down sometimes, but that's just his brain's way of coping with Eddie's death ... Right?

After Eddie narrowly survives the Upside Down, he wakes up handcuffed to a hospital bed. When his name is cleared, he thinks it's too good to be true that they all survived and that he isn't being convicted for murders he didn't commit. And maybe it is...
Eddie was having a hard enough time live back in his trailer where he watched Chrissy die before Wayne died of a heart attack. Staying there without him is nearly impossible. Eddie isn't expecting anything when he vents to Steve about how hard it is sleeping there, but he isn't going to say no when Steve offers for him to move into the basement of his house.
Steve asks Eddie to move in because he knows hard it can be sleeping and being alone in your home after finding out that monsters are real. But he also asks him because his parents are almost never around and he's lonely and maybe it would be nice not always coming home to an empty house.

Eddie was practically lifeless, kept going by machines and medicine. He didnt have many visitors, but a few people came almost every day. There was his uncle Wayne, Dustin Henderson, and one Steve Harrington.
Steve spent five months by Eddie's bedside, learning more about him from those who loved him the most. In that time he'd grown to really admire the man who was once a powerful force against god and all who thought he was weird or different. He was an advocate for the little guy, and passionate in everything he did. Steve learned all this not from Eddie, but from fantastical stories about him. Steves life began to revolve around the sleeping man, and slowly Steve started to wonder if he would ever wake up, or if he even wanted him to?

Eddie Munson survives but ends up in a coma. Steve Harrington visits him everyday and slowly falls in love with someone whos barely part of the living world anymore.

Summary

He knows that everyone else is going through their own shit, and it doesn't feel fair to burden anyone with his own anxiety issues. On a walk to clear his head after a bad dream, he runs into none other than Eddie Munson. Sure, the two of them had definitely gotten closer while they were saving the world, but something about this run-in with Eddie seems different. It makes Steve feel things he hadn't felt since Nancy. After saving the world, you would think Steve would be able to handle anything. But his sexuality crisis and newfound feelings for Eddie is something way more confusing and daunting than the Upside Down had ever been.

Steve and Robin narrowly escape a fight with a bloodthirsty creature in the Upside Down - only to realize it's one of their fallen comrades.
Future chapter(s) follow the team, including Dustin, trying to get through to Eddie as he struggles to regain control of his mind. And to do so without hurting his friends.
Title's from the Journey song, since y'know, they went their "Separate Ways" at the end of season 4.
