Summary
The track disappeared under his tires as he pushed the engine harder.
He felt the Lamborghini bite into the curve. His eyes flicked to the speedometer before returning to the apex line, angling perfectly. Then they hit the straightway, and his whole body locked in.
A lesser vehicle would be shaking as he pressed on the accelerator. Blood roared in his ears, the adrenaline pumping through his body making everything in him light up, alive.
The speedometer climbed.
Or: It's been a year since the events that happened in New York, and Shane and Ilya settle in boring married life in Ottawa.

Summary
Shane Hollander, new postdoc, commits a (very small) academic infraction by borrowing a (teensy little) folder. It certainly doesn't warrant the attention of visiting Russian literature expert Ilya Rozanov (except, of course, it totally does).
The academic rivalry I didn't know I needed.

Summary
“He was such a prodigy,” Scott said while they lay tangled in bed, watching highlight reels. Kip never expected to spend nights watching hockey, but then again, he never expected to be dating a secret multi-millionaire in a Manhattan penthouse either.
“Was?” Kip asked. “He looks pretty talented to me.”
“I mean, he’s still fucking amazing,” Scott’s eyes never left the screen as number 24 snuck a puck through the legs of the goalie and the announcer rattled off a list of stats. “But a bit off his game since he missed the Olympics.”
Or: It's the playoffs, and Shane and Scott Hunter are going head-to-head - literally. Meanwhile, Ilya's past comes back to haunt him.

Summary
Ilya would have been more peeved at how crowded the place was, if not for the sight before him.
He leaned on the thick black matted flooring of the boxing ring, half hiding his face in the hopes no one would clock the hungry look on his face as a shirtless Ryan Price and extremely fit-looking Shane Hollander taped down their gloves.
Or: Do we need an excuse to punch Dallas Kent in the face?

Summary
It had been almost two years since Shane had stepped foot in the Bell Centre in Montreal. It felt like an entirely different place through the visiting team entrance.
Ilya played with Mishka ears for a moment, then sighed dramatically. “Fine, I will go to Montreal.”
“What?” Shane’s heart skipped a beat. “I’m not asking you to.”
“You think I’m a bad husband?”
Or: Shane plays Montreal for the first time, and it goes about as well as expected.

Summary
Ilya had stripped down to a tank top, his curls flat on his face until he shoved them back. He was shivering uncontrollably despite the heat Pike blasted into the backseat.
“Tell me where it hurts,” Ilya’s voice was ragged. His hands were chilly as he ran them over Shane’s bare chest, under Ilya’s wool jacket.
Ilya was soaking wet; his hair dripped ice onto Shane’s face.
“Hollander–”
“There should be another blanket—“
“Just fucking drive,” Ilya snapped.
He blew into his hands, warming them as best he could before cupping Shane’s icy cheeks and turning his face toward him.
“Shane,” Ilya said, his voice cracking. “Open your eyes. Please.”
Or: Ilya just needs Shane to not die.

Summary
Before he had met the guy, he assumed Price was a bear in human form, recruited straight out of some secret dockside brawling fight ring in Nova Scotia.
He was here to play hockey. Not to make friends. Except for Ryan, his unexpected friend.
Though, it turned out he hadn’t been that wrong about the bear part.
Or: Ryan and Shane hit the Village in Toronto.

“Promise me one thing, okay?”
“Anything,” Ilya replied, squeezed reassuringly.
“Don’t beat yourself up over these things, okay? It’s not your job to fix it.”
Ilya wanted to argue. Of course it was his job to fix it. It was what he did. It was what he was good at. That was what he was good for.
Or: Ilya visits Shane, and they're both still going through it.

Summary
Shane was on the mend. Really. Ilya had pulled him out of that icy river before there was any lasting damage.
It didn't matter that he couldn't just fucking forget what had happened.
Ilya wasn't okay, but he wasn't going to tell anyone that. Telling people would mean dealing with it.
And he had Shane now, which was enough.
Or: Shane and Ilya deal with the fall out of being kidnapped and traumatized by the Montreal mafia.

Summary
Shane wasn’t stupid. He figured this was some kind of fucking cowardly tactic to keep him from being at the Games. Hopefully, that’s all they wanted. If he just played nice maybe this would all be over soon.
No one was coming to save him.
No one, except maybe Rozanov. And he was pretty sure Rozanov would just be pissed off at being stood up.
Or: Shane goes missing before Sochi, and the only one who can save him is Ilya.

Summary
Stiles's job at the Ministry had been more boring than he had anticipated (Muggle Liaison Officer had sounded cool on the pamphlet but in reality was a lot of Floo calls from panicky wizards who had jammed their wands in electrical sockets and slightly toasty Muggles listening shell shocked as they held their previously non-combustible children). The teaching gig was a good job in the interim while he waited for something more interesting to come up.
Plus, there were certain perks to being a professor: private baths, an entire office that had been shielded from magic so he could have CoD tournaments with his OWL students, and, most importantly, soundproof bedrooms.

Summary
Derek had thought Cora had died in the fire. There was a stamp on her files, somewhere, with a bright red DECEASED and a life insurance policy processed, paid, and received. It wasn’t like they could just stroll into the school office and enroll midyear whoopsie-daisy do-over without some kind of legal explanation. However when Stiles mentioned it Cora looked at him like he had suggested disemboweling puppies.
But, as time wore on, it became obvious that though the Hales self-described as a ‘close-knit family pack’ there was only so long those strings could last without fraying.

“Okay, let’s head back and ask Deaton what he thinks,” Scott had carefully closed and cupboard and Stiles should have known nothing good came from unanimously agreed upon reasonable suggestions.
(Basically, demons made them do it, virgin blood rituals and such. Do I need an excuse to get them sexy-times-together?)

Summary
The first thing Naruto noticed was that he couldn't see. He blinked once or twice but the room grew no lighter. He attempted to raise his hands to touch his face but was brought up short by a clink of metal and a sharp jab in the wrist. His legs were bound too. A chain ran between the shackles on his wrists to the shackles on his ankles. He struggled off his stomach and onto his knees.
