After killing Larson, Arthur and John leave Addison. They end up in a motel for the night, and when Arthur's emotions and traumas from the past few months bubble over into an inevitable breakdown, he finally communicates with John just what has happened the past few days and why Larson's blood has ended up on his hands.

There’s a striking intimacy in actually being able to hear Susebron’s words, in the way the air vibrates just a touch, the melodic quality that no mortal human can possibly posses, the brush of soft air against her face.

And if it’s taking this long, surely it must be going well for once. Maybe he’ll have finally some money when he gets home.
If that weirdo guy who kept insisting he was ‘Anthony’ actually pays him, anyway. Or he doesn’t blow it all on junk-food the second he gets home.
But when she yanks open the front door, lungs burning and legs ready to drop her, and finds a dark silhouette sat by the window, haloed only by the thick light of streetlights filtering through the dirty windows... Patty immediately knows something is wrong.

She does not even remember the sign for I am sorry.
It takes Moon about a hundred cycles, maybe more, to learn to communicate with the local scavengers.
