He thinks to himself as he sits down and leans against the wall, mindlessly rolling a spherical stone towards the wall and having it roll back to him, and repeating the process. The sound of it clicking against the wall, the sound of it rolling on the dusty floor, then back into the palm of his hand…
Comforting, a simple and predictable cycle..

Roland has had his fair share of surprises, so much so it had grown dull and predictable.
Like a stage play that had droned on for too long, the audience was already starting to yawn and doze off in their seats. But never once had he encountered a character like a certain commandant who, without fail, always seemed to challenge his expectations.or; after the events of Roland’s affection story, Roland can’t seem to figure out why skk is being so nice to him.

He has seen this play before, a pathetically predictable script worn out long before the Golden Age. A white knight who shines in gold light to end the night and slay the beast. A classic hero’s tale, clothed in white and framed in gold – built upon the unspoken bones and gore of monsters (lives with no meaning, deaths with no worth – sinful and stained, his reflection in the mirror).
That foolish, golden knight has no idea what lay at his fingertips.

"Don't let them take you," your voice is firm, grip tightening as you lift your head to catch his gaze. Faintly, without any strength, you tug on his fingers and, without thought, he bows just a little to acquiesce. "Do not kill and do not draw blood, but do not let them take you. I will come for you, I promise."
