Summary
Light believes Kira has no more enemies. He has conquered and brought his usurpers to their knees. Kira's brand new world will thrive with L out of the picture. The Kira Task Force is a farce. But Light didn't count on someone stepping out of the shadows to challenge Kira with such boldness and tenacity, and who has a diabolic plan to seed his vengeance against Kira in such a way that Light's humiliation of L won't compare to what Light will suffer.
A killer is challenging Kira and murdering people in a unique pattern. During the LABB Murder Case, "Beyond Birthday" targeted L, now, after faking his death, he sets sights on Kira, and invoking his right to kill L's killer. Attacked and targeted at every turn, Light must rise to the challenge of Beyond Birthday's machinations, or everything in his brand new world will crumble!
Meanwhile, another threat looms on the horizon from a different source. He wants Kira defeated, but also Beyond Birthday humiliated and dead. History is about to catch up to them both, in separate ways, and they are thrown into a game of life and death—a series of deadly games—that could be more than either one of them alone can handle!

Light Yagami, the 18-year-old top student in Japan, was arrested for being Kira on the cold night of November 5th, 2007. Taken from his own home without warning, he’s placed into a special penitentiary where all of L’s cases end up. The case file for the Kira Case has gathered dust by the time a new but similar string of heart attacks emerge internationally—a whole 5 years later.

In his first incarnation on earth, centuries ago, Satoru told a lie. Out of boredom, or maybe just curiosity, he invented a god in a story, never expecting anyone to believe him.
