"He knows exactly what the man is thinking and it almost doesn’t surprise him when the first words out of the officer’s mouth are, “Let’s start with the half-breed.”
Surging forward despite the guns, Hangman goes for the officer’s throat, satisfied when the man’s expression glitches into a shade of fear before the stormtrooper’s fists drive him to his knees. Though he gives as good as he gets, Hangman is soon subdued. And for a moment he thinks his distraction might’ve worked; he wants the officer to focus on him, not Rooster. But once the officer has had his fill of gloating over Hangman on his knees, the officer looks to Rooster once again."
So I put some of my favorite Top Gun characters into a Star Wars AU. I had a lot of fun writing it. Maybe I will write more for it eventually but it is a full story as of now. Rooster is half-Mirialan on Carole's side, Goose was Axxilan, and Hangman and Phoenix are from Alderaan. A basic whump story. I put myself a bit out of my comfort zone to write this one, so I hope y'all enjoy!

Summary
Rooster wasn't as unscathed as he appears in the movie. Crash landing on deck and the dog fight with the fifth generation fighters had consequences. Wherein Cyclone calls in the big guns (Slider would move mountains for Mav, not just for Ice's memory) and Maverick has various emotional breakdowns.
Plenty of hurt/comfort and angst, as well and 'Team as Family.'

Summary
Given Hangman’s personality, I think he would’ve sought out Maverick for an explanation after Rooster gets picked for the Mission. So of course Jake is going to be dramatic and angsty because we all love seeing our boys being put through the wringer. But don't worry -- it has a fluffy ending.
The meeting of the representations of Maverick may now begin! (Because I see Hangman as the embodiment of a young Maverick, before he lost Goose, and Captain Maverick as … well … Captain Maverick.)

The whipping AU. Where the navy has groups choose a representative to take group punishments. Maverick, with his reputation, got picked a lot, back in the day. It didn’t do much to reign in his personality. Later on, Rooster gets picked on by an admiral who Ice hasn’t managed to drum out yet. (Historically, corporal punishment has been a big part of the armed services, so the idea popping up online wasn’t illogical … but it is really depressing.)
(The title is an idiom that I heard in my home state. Surfer culture - am I right?)

When I watched the movie for the first time, I told my mom that when Cyclone effectively ‘fires’ Maverick, it was like serving somebody papers at a funeral. In other words, just really bad taste. So I decided to give Cyclone the talking to I felt he deserved.

Summary
(I only put this in two fandoms because of Val Kilmer. This movie has also taken possession of me, apparently, though not nearly to the degree which 'Top Gun: Maverick' has. I hope that y'all enjoy the ride!)
Handing off the reins to McMaster’s, Doc throws his leg over the saddle so he’s facing Wyatt, holding his arm in a death grip. “Down you go,” Wyatt encourages him and Doc slides from the saddle, free hand still clutching Wyatt’s coat to him like it could shield him from the world. And from the stares of Hooker and his men, whom they both know are watching the small drama playing out before them.
It goes from bad to worse when Doc’s knees collapse, forcing Wyatt to take his full (though worryingly light) weight.
“Don’t you dare.” Doc’s irascible protest stops Wyatt when he goes to hook an arm under his friends knees. “Or I swear I shall come back and haunt you.”
(Am I the only one who thinks it's kinda strange that both of Val Kilmer's characters in these movies die of something that makes them cough up blood?)
