'“I know this might surprise you,” Merlin says after a while, “But people sort of thought I was a bit…well…weird. Back in Ealdor. They didn’t like the children going near me.”
Arthur frowns. Merlin is undeniably weird, and a strange mix of incredibly dense and stunningly clever. But he can’t imagine people being afraid of him.
“Did they think it was catching?” It’s not the right thing to say, but it’s something.
“Probably,” Merlin smiles. “Do you think you’d like to have some, one day? Children, that is?”
Arthur raises his eyebrows and looks into the fire. “Of course. I’ve never really thought about it to be honest. It’s sort of a non-negotiable thing when you’re a king, you know.”
Merlin just nods, and smooths absentmindedly at the baby’s sleep-crinkled brow.
'In which Merlin and Arthur find a baby, and are its reluctant guardians on the journey to reunite it with its parents in a neighbouring kingdom.

They gravitated towards Zuko whenever the temperature dipped even slightly. At night, he often woke to someone pulling their bedroll towards him, or slipping under his arm, or turning over in their sleep and colliding with his shoulder.
It alarmed him, at first. It had never been a good thing when someone woke him in the dead of the night.
It was strange, then, that he was on the run without Uncle, officially a traitor to his homeland, and for the first time since his mother left, he woke in the night sandwiched between bodies, feeling safe.

Summary
Prince Arthur is acting as an ambassador at a foreign court - one that is uncomfortably sympathetic to magic. He is accompanied, as always, by his knights and faithful manservant.
Strangely, when they arrive, the nobles seem to recognize Merlin, calling him by a name that Arthur has not heard before - Ambrosius. Merlin claims ignorance, but is clearly uncomfortable with the attention they give him. Arthur is determined to pry the truth out of him.
