This has to be a trap.
“Why would I help you?”
The cult is probably going to do something to horrifically embarrass her before either killing her or sending her off with a message. Hell, maybe she’ll be the message, dropped off as a mutilated corpse right outside the city gates. There’s no way she’s getting out of this unscathed.
But maybe if she plays this convincingly enough, she’ll be able to take back the Thunder Helm, right out from under the Yiga Clan’s stupid masks.

Summary
He sleeps poorly, but he dreams.
He dreams of Hyrule– of places he’d been familiar with a lifetime ago– and it’s all red. There are monsters everywhere, appearing out of thin air with snarling faces and glowing eyes. There’s a voice, Zelda’s, pleading desperately with him to be careful. Link wakes up to red wisps and magenta embers disappearing into the ether.

Life for Master Kohga, and the Yiga Clan in general, is good.
It becomes significantly less good when Lord Ganon contacts him during the Blood Moon.

He’s small and thin, even compared to the other humans who visit the stable, and he just… isn’t intimidating. She decides to remedy this by teaching him a tactic found in every lynel’s arsenal.

Summary
As a loyal Yiga footsoldier and Blademaster hopeful, Jozah was thoroughly acquainted with descriptions of his clan’s most bitter enemy: the hero’s pathetic height, beady eyes, and twisted scowl. Yes, Link’s appearance was well-known by even the lowliest of Yiga soldiers, designed to be identified and attacked on the spot should they ever encounter the scoundrel.
What hadn’t come up in Yiga training was the golden shimmer of Link’s hair - like captured sunlight - or the way it framed sharp cheekbones and a strong jaw. And wow, those eyes were really blue; they practically put sapphires to shame.
The hero was regarding him quizzically, eyebrow raised and lips pursed. Jozah swallowed thickly.

So when the Yiga clan first catches him and he realizes he can't and won't kill them, he lets himself be taken hostage. He expects them to kill him, but The Yiga Clan claim to be kinder than the Goddess Link was forced to serve, and they make a different choice on what to do with him.
