It’s some stupid joke the universe has decided to play, Bad concluded: two humans at the end of the world too absorbed in the other to bother saving anyone else, and too attached to kill their other half even out of mercy. Skeppy’s only half human now, some anomaly leaving him teetering on the edge, and Bad can’t bring himself to leave. Skeppy thinks he should, but he can’t bring himself to leave even for Bad’s sake either.

Bad was crushed under the foot of god. He had been twisted into a body that he was not meant to have and thrown down into Hell. Bad clawed his way out of it for freedom in the Nether and for years he wandered it, making friends he could not keep, wondering if maybe one day he would find someone who would be willing to stay if they could.
Edit: I'm going to be fixing the end of the story. This was supposed to have a sequel, just the part that led up to them becoming soul bound, but I don’t think it'll happen. I didn't want to release this story before the sequel was finished, but I did and am now left with regrets, lol. I can’t ever bring myself to delete a fic though, or keep one permanently private, so here we are.
