“Two out of three?” Dean asks and pours each of them another glass of bourbon. He sets down the bottle on a table nearby and cracks his knuckles, a little obnoxiously. “And let’s play for something. Make it interesting.”
He lifts his glass and waits for Sam to do the same, then clinks their glasses together and downs his shot.
Sam watches him drink, fixated on the way his throat works when he swallows, and Sam has no idea where his next thought is coming from – all he knows is that he’s drunk and horny, he is in love with his brother, God is out to kill them, and today is supposed to be his lucky day.

And it’s that weakness for agreeing to Dean’s stupid plans that has Sam in too-big shoulder pads and a too-big jersey with Richards emblazoned on the back in the middle of a Halloween house party full of people he doesn’t know.
Dean had insisted on keeping his costume a surprise, and Sam definitely had not prepared to be dressed up.
Someone squeals as the song changes again, some electro beat that Sam has no hope of recognizing. He stares down at the contents in his cup. Fuck it.
Or: In a world where monsters don't exist, and Sam and Dean are raised normally by two parents, things between them come to a head at a Halloween party. Some things are inevitable like that.

Summary
The first time it happens, it’s an accident.
Dean jerks back immediately, sputtering. Sam’s mouth falls open, shocked, as he watches his brother retreat. Cas, sitting across the table, watches awkwardly as Dean gags and spits against a napkin.
It was barely anything, just a dry press of lips to lips, off-kilter. Dean’s mouth had landed at the corner of Sam’s chapped bottom lip, almost missing him entirely. Still, Sam thinks, it’s the first time he can remember that happening, outside of vague memories of childhood, a chubby-handed Dean sloppily kissing his cheek before bed.
Or: After an accidental kiss makes a hunt go suspiciously well, Sam and Dean decide to try it again. And again. And again. It's no different from wearing lucky socks, right? A 5 + 1.

“What do you want, Sam?” Dean asks, looking up and down the aisles of the gas station. Colorful candy bars make his stomach rumble, and he picks up a Snickers bar. It promises to be share size, so Dean looks down at his little brother.
Sam trails after him, and the hem of his jeans are stuck under the heel of his shoe. If he keeps walking on them, they’ll fray, and they can’t afford to replace 'em. Dean puts the candy bar back and kneels, tapping Sam on the calf so he’ll lift up his foot. Sam quietly acquiesces. Dean props his worn sneaker on his knee.

Summary
Dean has a wad of money hidden in his bag. It’s folded into a skin mag that he bought in Duluth, which itself is folded into a tube of socks. He calls it his Sammy Stash. Dad and Sam don’t know about it. It’s a stack of crumpled bills he’s earned through hustling at pool and hoarded from short-term jobs he’s worked, pressed flat as they can go to look as inconspicuous as possible. It’s for one very specific purpose, in the same way Dean’s entire life has had one very specific purpose.

“One second,” Sam says, away from the microphone, talking to his perfect, smart, bloodless friend. “What’s up?” Sam asks, to Dean again.
What’s up?
Dean’s holding his guts in with a hoodie. He’s in a ditch on the side of the road, amidst miles and miles of farmland on the side of a highway Dean’s forgotten the number of. A werewolf had done it, so at least Dean gets to look up at a full moon as he dies. After Dad hadn’t picked up, Dean knew there was only one person he wanted to hear from. Only one person who mattered.
“Nothing much,” Dean says, a little strained as a throb of agony rolls up his body. “Thinking about hitting up a bar in a few and thought I’d check in.”

(Sam and Dean get sent back to 1996 and go on a hunt with their teenaged selves. The kids don't know who they are.)
