Eight days later, somewhere in the Badlands, he awakens to a dozen missed calls and messages from back home. Something terrible has happened. Frank Langdon has been shot, and he might not make it.
Consumed by worry and by guilt, Robby returns to Pittsburgh, the memory of his last, terrible conversation with Frank playing on a loop in his head.
He hopes it is not too late to make amends of his own.
“Is he dead?” Robby manages to rasp out. His body is curling in on itself. He can feel himself unravelling. It’s too familiar. It’s all too familiar. This can’t be happening. “Is Frank fucking dead, Dana?”

Summary
Dr. Rachel Sinclair is an orthopedic surgeon who fixes what’s broken with steady hands and sharp instincts—bones, joints, things that can be aligned if you know where to apply pressure. Dr. Robby is barely holding himself together, surviving on routine and grit, suspicious of anything that threatens his fragile balance.
They argue over treatment plans, snap at each other in trauma bays, and bristle over who’s right and who gets the final say. But in the quiet moments—after the noise fades, when it’s just the two of them—their edges fit together in ways neither expected.
What starts as professional friction turns into something undeniable: heat, trust, and the slow realization that maybe being put back together doesn’t always mean fixing what’s broken alone.

He needed to get to Jack."Robby injured himself on the way to work.
