Summary
Hypnos first met Hermes a very long time ago, the way mortals count things, and not any time ago at all, the way he and his family do. He did not fall in love at first sight, because Hypnos knows better than to do that--his eldest brother is Eros, after all, and Eros has never been mean to Hypnos, though he understands sometimes Eros is mean to other people for Hypnos; love is like that, sometimes.
He was mostly angry and upset and then, after, a bit guilty. He hadn’t meant to burn Hermes’ feet through to soul.

Summary
Apollo’s got a temper, that’s all, like most Olympians, but his is definitely a scorching summer sun sort, withering, and he’s got that name, right, Paean in the old way, the striking way. Mortals still mean both, or they did when Dionysus was mostly mortal.

Summary
Hermes and Thanatos have been a thing for years.
"It's great, not even half a mile to central park, and if you go half a mile east there's the river trail, runs straight out of the city," Hermes is saying, climbing the high and narrow stairs to the guest bedroom without looking back. Hypnos is following and Dionysus is behind him, and Dionysus must feel cramped because the stairwell is making even Hypnos uncomfortable and Hypnos is a twig.
A lot of people think they're married.
"Here you are, bathroom’s just down the hall," Hermes says, pushing open a door to a guest room--a queen size bed with perfectly turned down blankets, half a dozen pillows. “Get settled, I’ll get us drinks, just down the stairs.”
They’re not.

Summary
There's this muse, Eurydice. She's beautiful. She laughs like coming home; she sings like a song you've always known without knowing. If you ask the right person the right way and pay exactly the right price, you'll be able to bring her home.
Your uncle taught you that.
"How did you even get past Charon?" Thanatos asks. He isn't looking at you anymore.
"I paid him," you say.

Summary
In the aftermath of Hypnos’ humiliating public punishment for speaking out of turn, the situation within the House begins to shift. With Zagreus paying more attention and Thanatos spending more time at home, Hypnos finds it difficult to keep the details of his new arrangement with Hades a secret.
During Nyx's continued absence from the House, Hades becomes increasingly volatile. And, to his shame, Hypnos finds himself falling for Zagreus instead.
When his predicament takes a drastic turn for the worse, Hypnos has to make a choice: to keep his silence or to ask for help, and put the people he cares about at risk.

Summary
A long time ago, or at least Achilles thinks it was, he started to work at the House. He has not been here a long time in the way of the gods who roam the halls, and only just a little longer than even the prince, but still—it is only very, very recently he ever saw Master Thanatos return and tug parchment free.

Summary
“Take this,” Hypnos had said. “So your feet don’t get cold.”
Thanatos’ feet are cold; they’re coated with mud. He doesn’t think... He thinks, maybe, he didn’t realize what Hypnos was really saying. He hasn’t in so long.
Sometimes, lately, he thinks he almost might.
He wants to go home. He stays under the cypress, face against his knees, rain drops splattering against the back of his neck cold.
He wonders if he's dying, or just...
A breeze ruffles his hair, gentle.

Summary
When Hypnos was in second grade, he peeled the sticker off his apple and stuck it on the back of Dionysus' hand. Dionysus was new and Hypnos had already stuck the sticker from the breakfast banana on Thanatos that morning and he just thought, maybe, probably, that the new kid could really use a sticker, too.
Maybe that's what he thought, anyway. Second grade was a long time ago.

Summary
Sometimes, Apollo wonders what would have happened if he had not called the twins early to Ilion.
He knew the stars would move. He knew they would step away from the places the night had set for them, away from what best flattered her dark. Knew they had been spun kind, gentle. Bright, the brightest of all set in the sky.
Knew, by then, to be prized is not to be loved, and how very prized they were.

Summary
They used to write. After Ilion? Ares and he. It was nice to stay in touch. Ilion was... It was horrible, of course it was, a lot of people died and Hypnos hasn’t ever liked war, not really, no matter the way Lady Athena always tries to make it seem like it can be noble sometimes, but Hypnos hasn’t ever seen a noble war.
Ilion wasn’t good, but on a personal level, private, just... just Hypnos?
Ilion was beautiful.

Summary
There’s this story gets passed around about a net, a dawn, and a cock. Might be the nicest gift anyone’s ever gave Hephaestus—struck down speculation and rumour and wondering because of course ‘Dite wouldn’t have had any kids with him after that. Let him and her get on with their lives in peace; he didn’t demand her for her.
Wasn’t about her; he just did the math and she was the sum.

Summary
Zagreus is on Olympus with his mismatched eyes; he has arrived at the afternoon picnic with an apple in hand that Eros does not think he should have, with so many vines coiling pretty and sharp in his ribs, strangling his heart. They'll choke him, if he lets them, but it will be fine, because Zagreus thrives on how things die and come back and die and come back and if Eros could—
Just one arrow, gold and true. To see what might happen.
But his dearest mother likes Zagreus, but his far too kind father smiles in earnest for Zagreus, but all of Olympus likes Zagreus, and so Eros does not. He smiles, instead.

Summary
Charon doesn’t agree with Nyx on much, on near anything if he’s being real honest, but even he’s got to admit that the twins are her best work, the culmination of all that experimenting she did with the rest of them. It’s not agreeing though, and he’ll insist that till the day she gets the brass to admit she failed with him. Nyx thinks it’s just one that came out right.
It’s both, though, when they’re together.
