Summary
Sometimes, all it takes for the world to change...is a little timing. Suppose GUN found out that Gerald was jerking them around a little earlier, when Shadow wasn't as grown/developed? Suppose his escape pod was just damaged enough that GUN never found him, in all those years? What might he become, without Gerald's manipulations? What might he feel, younger and still bereaved? And what might he decide, in a little house by Never Lake, with the person who found him instead?
A look into how things might have gone for Shadow, if the worst day of his life hadn't been followed by GUN and Gerald each trying to outdo it. Rated T due to Maria's final moments, realistically described, and for references to emotional/psych abuse by Gerald to keep his medical experiment compliant.
