It's just past midnight and a new year has begun in Gotham City, but the night's revels have been disrupted at stately Vreeland Manor, with the discovery that a thief has stolen Veronica Vreeland's jewels, and bashed her butler over the head. As luck would have it, that dilettante detective, Bruce Wayne, was on hand, along with Comissioner James Gordon. Also present is a striking young waiter calling himself Joe, who has piqued Bruce's curiosity.
Who committed this dastardly deed? Is it the butler? Is it Ronnie Vreeland's mysterious new beau, James Craddock? And what about Waiter Joe, what's up with him?
Will more crimes occur before the World's Greatest Detective finds the solution -- and will he get his man?
