Summary
Katsuki is many things, but a good gift giver was not on that list nor had it ever been. It hadn’t mattered much as a child, either his parents picked out the gifts and just slapped his name on it without Katsuki ever even knowing what they’d picked out in the first place or he could throw macaroni and glitter onto a piece of construction paper and call it good and his parents would still gush about how much they loved it and how meaningful it was. Then as Katsuki got older his parents stopped putting his name on gifts and the macaroni received less and less praise until it eventually earned him a scowl and a lecture about wasting food from Mitsuki.
Whatever, Katsuki wasn’t going to get bent out of shape over it. Cash and gift cards worked just fine as gifts, after all who would ever frown at free money?
Eijirou Kirishima, that’s who. Sure, he didn’t actually frown but Katsuki had known him long enough to pick up on all his tells and the subtle pinch of his brow and the miniscule sigh before he put on a bright smile and started gushing told Katsuki everything he needed to know.

There was a time where he yearned for something more–something better–but those were the long ago day dreams of a child who had nothing to lose and everything to gain. What did it matter to him that he was a year older, people get old all the time, nothing to celebrate.

Never in his eighteen years of living did he think that he would catch Eijirou Kirishima, son of the fucking pastor, at a gay bar in Missouri.

That was a statement that Katsuki and Eijirou heard a lot and it was funny for two reasons: the statement was partially true, and Katsuki and Eijirou weren’t dating. While neither of them could be considered old at twenty-two they were indeed married, had been since they were eighteen. Katsuki still wasn’t sure where Eijirou got the idiotic idea from, but after some days of research they found out that it was true that married people get cheaper tuition, so naturally they decided to get married the following week.

The best part was getting to experience all his firsts with Katsuki. First date, first kiss, first time cuddling, even the mundane first grocery shopping trip together was leagues better than any other grocery trip he’d had in the past. Today marked another first in their relationship: the first time going ice skating together. Though they had been dating for nearly four years, Katsuki had always managed to get out of going ice skating. Christmas season was Eijiro’s favorite time of year. Everything was picture-perfect and dreamy. The snow, the lights, the decorations, the music, the food. Eijiro loved every aspect of it, but his favorite part had to be spending time with his family. His mama’s family lived in America so every December they would fly and visit them. Those two and a half weeks were spent ice skating, building snowmen, snow tubing, snowball fights, and baking cookies.
Cookie day was a whole ordeal in the Kirishima household. Each family member was responsible for one thing and they made no less than ten different cookies so everyone would have one they loved. Eijiro always insisted on peanut butter blossoms. He and his Auntie Hana had perfected the recipe over the years and it was always the first cookie to go.

Sunrise was always a bittersweet moment. Seeing the dawn rise out of the inky black sky always felt like a seed of hope being planted, then as the sun continued to rise the seed was crushed to millions of pieces as reality set in. It was another day, and nothing had changed. Katsuki could see the sun rising through the crack of his bedroom curtains. He watched the sun and then returned his focus to the figure sleeping next to him. Katsuki smiled at Eijiro’s sleeping form, his hair falling over his face, and the steady rhythm of his chest set Katsuki’s mind at ease. His smile dimmed as he shook Eijiro awake.
“Come on, you gotta get up,”

Midoriya kept talking, but Bakugo didn’t process a single word. His entire body went on autopilot as he walked up to the third floor and second door on the left, pushing the door open and shuffling to his desk and nearly falling into his chair. Midoriya’s words kept replaying in his head.
“Mom’s dead?”

Summary
With his head held up, Bakugo could get a better glance at the warehouse he was being kept in, as well as the people keeping him and Shigaraki company. Bakugo’s stomach twisted when his vision cleared and he could finally see the person leaning against the far wall of the warehouse, Izuku.
Bakugo thought he was hallucinating when he first saw his childhood friend. The only light in the entire building was a small lamp near the door on the opposite side to where he was tied up. Izuku hung around in the shadows watching him before making his first move, Bakugo couldn’t say that he was surprised. Izuku always took notes on his surroundings before making the first move. Still, when Izuku walked towards Bakugo he couldn’t really believe that it was him, that was until the sharp sting of a slap registered in Bakugo’s mind.

“I didn’t hit you that hard. At this point, you’re being dramatic,” A voice huffed, and Bakugo’s head snapped up. No, there was no way he recognized that voice, but as his vision cleared, the pieces slowly started to put themselves together.
“De- Deku?” Bakugo rasped, his voice sandpaper against his throat.
Deku was lounging in a chair a few feet away from Bakugo, his legs hanging over the arm, lazily twirling a knife between his fingers, not even noticing the minor cuts the blades were giving him. His focus was so set on the knife it was almost like he forgot Bakugo was in the room with him nearly.

“You’ll never see me again,” Eijiro promised, he intended to get out of this god-forsaken country if he could manage it.
“That doesn’t make our friendship less valid.” He looked down then snapped his head up and excitedly pulled out a simple gold necklace, its pendant in the shape of the royal family’s crest, and held it out to Eijiro. “My father said this brings protection to its wearer so you must take it!”
Eijiro looked at the necklace warily but took it, clasping it to his neck and tucking it under his tunic. He looked around, trying to find something to give the boy in return, finally, he held out his arms and delicately plucked out one of his dragon scales.

“So...you want to work with flowers?” Uraraka’s dad asked, looking Bakugo up and down.
The interview was painfully slow and Bakugo’s nerves couldn’t be calmed down. His leg was bouncing incessantly as he nodded his head yes. “Ever since I could remember I’ve always had a real passion… for flowers.”
Idiot. A baby could’ve come up with a better lie than yours.
“Right well we’re not exactly hiring right now, the only reason you’re here right now is that my daughter spoke so highly of you.” He leaned forward and narrowed his eyes.
Bakugo looked down, ashamed that he was about to confess everything to this stranger. “Look I’m going, to be honest, I know jack shit about flowers but I’m desperate for this job. I’m a quick learner, I can be here all day every day, and I'm willing to do the work nobody else wants to do, please.”
Uraraka’s dad looked him up and down. His face contorted as he thought about Bakugo’s plea. After what felt like an eternity, he smiled and stood up. “Welcome to the team then.”
