The funny part is - and it is a little funny, even if Wei Wuxian has no one left to share the joke with - they never have. Not anything. He has never kissed any part of Lan Zhan besides his slim hands; never been even partially undressed with him anywhere besides a miserable, xuanwu-infested cave. It’s always been like this between them, this simmering need, this desperate understanding: a knowledge so deep that it lives somewhere in his bones, that if he wanted to have Lan Zhan he could have him, and if Lan Zhan wanted Wei Wuxian he could have that too. But they never have.

Lan Sizhui recognizes his tone—this is the voice that Wei Wuxian uses on hurt people and young children, a very calm and no-nonsense voice that has none of the mischief and cheer of the way he sounds the rest of the time. Lan Sizhui looks up and meets his eyes, and they are dark, stormy gray, muddled and concerned.
“I’m all right,” he croaks.
“Hush,” Wei Wuxian says, in a low croon, like someone quieting a baby. Then he blinks, and looks away, awkward. “I mean—you shouldn’t speak. You’re tired. Rest if you need to.”

Summary
I'm doing fine he'd tell his mother when she asked him how he was doing, if he was eating well, sleeping well, making friends. Plastered on a smile as if she could tell when he wasn't, as if she could see him at all.
Better than Hawkins he'd tell his brother when he asked how he was settling into the big city, if his classes were hard, if they were fun, if he'd found a place for himself yet.
He didn't need to lie to Mike—lies by omission didn't count, he told himself—because Mike was the one putting all his eggs in that basket when they called. Probably for the best he'd think, because if he did choose to tell the truth, talk from the heart (god, the heart) than it would only be a matter of time before Will reciprocated, spilling his guts out through the phone. Definitely for the best then.
OR Will is sick and tired of being tired. He's doing his best to wake up. Mike is trying too.

Reo makes a strange noise. His expression contorts a few times, before landing on bewilderment. He puts his pencil down. Nagi glances away.
“You’re… you’re in…” Reo trails off. Nagi stares at his own hands. “Nagi, where’s—where’s this coming from?”
Nagi does a half-shrug with one shoulder without looking up. “Dunno.”
He coughs.

“Oh?” Will says, and it’s definitely teasing now, enough for Mike to feel himself turning warm, all down his neck and to the tips of his own – sadly unpatterned – socks. “Someone?”
“Yeah.” Mike nods. Oh, god. This is fine. “In a very arbitrary sense of the word. Just– people. Someone.”
Mike is approximately ninety-eight percent sure that his feelings are requited. That last two percent, however, has really been throwing him for a loop.

Mike hates Valentine’s Day. It was fun as kids, when teachers would make every student decorate a little shoe box with pink and red heart stickers, that by the end of the day would be filled with cheesy Valentines and sweets.
But this isn’t kindergarten anymore— there are no school-enforced rules that his classmates have to give him a Valentine. He has to earn them. And he hasn’t.
