Summary
Katsuki was raised on the belief that one has to be the strongest to make it in this world. Other people are a waste of time, minor distractions, focus should be left to being the best at whatever he does. The violence at home shaped him into more than a beast than a person, relying on his instincts and others' fear to make it by. Weakness was to be eliminated by all means necessary.
He makes his way through life like a meteor, burning through obstacles and landing himself a place at an esteemed Police Academy. He only realizes the consequences of living the way he has when an incident leaves him powerless, something he hadn't thought possible, and begins the painful journey towards recovery.
Izuku was raised on the belief that no matter what he did, it would never amount to anything. His mother never believed in him, his father out of the picture, the only person who believed in him was himself.
A victim of bullying, life took its time tearing apart his dreams, his hope, until he was left with nothing. He hides away at home, taking better care of his potted plants than himself. After an incident he begins seeing a therapist, and bumps into a childhood friend he thought he'd never see again.

Midoriya looked immediately uncomfortable. He glanced at Bakugo quickly before turning his eyes back to Endeavor. "I know that he had a very impressive hero year. His rescue and capture numbers are both through the roof, and he's still in the Top 5 of the rankings despite, well, what happened."
"Don't fucking sugar coat it, nerd," Bakugo snapped, causing Midoriya to jump slightly. "What, you scared I'm gonna blow you up?"
Midoriya met Bakugo's gaze easily, his mouth a firm line and his voice slow and gentle in it's response. "I'm not afraid of you, Ground Zero. Should I be?"

The quality of the video was horrible, fuzzy green hair was all he could see for the first few seconds, before a flushed and freckled smile much too close to the camera appeared, followed closely by a gratuitous amount of laughter.
“Kaaaaachaaannnn…. What are you doooooin’?”
The screen wobbled and refocused on the face, round cheeks glowing in the red and yellow lights of some unknown bar. Cheesy pop music cracked through his speakers - trash that Katsuki would never be caught dead listening to. Suddenly the image switched from Izuku’s face to the flat wooden surface of what Katsuki could only assume was the bar and ended. Fucking Deku.
