Summary
Anne stood on top of the Wartwood palisade, looking forlornly into the jungle. How long has it been since she came here? Anne did not even want to know, far too long, she came with her two friends...who knew where they were right now.
The number of things that went wrong was almost impressive. They came here together, her, Sasha and Marcy. Anne hoped they could have just retrieved the box and left, but now, Anne could very well be the last human alive in Amphibia. With a deep sigh, Anne shook her head, turning her back to the unforgiving jungle that swallowed both of her friends. She had other duties she needed to tend to and until she was done, the fate of her friends would have to remain a mystery.
Note: This fic, while being part of a multi-fandom series, is solely Amphibia and completely separate from other fics plot wise, sharing only the world-building elements, aka being the same universe. The knowledge of the other fics in the series is not needed in any way. You will find a more detailed explanation at the beginning of the fic.

A magical mishap after a terrible first date led to Sprig Plantar being transformed into a human, the same species as his best friend, Anne Boonchuy. While Wartwood's local witch, Maddie, is trying to research for a cure to turn him back to normal, Sprig has no choice but to learn how to be human, with Anne's help, leading to a wacky adventure which forces him to reassess what he can and cannot do, as well as dealing with strange, human-like feelings from within that'll make him question who he wishes to be.
Little did they know that his fate would be intertwined with an ancient prophecy involving three gems and a cursed box, when he gains the ability to communicate with the spirit of a long-departed soul with no memories besides her name.
And so begins the Tale of Sprig the Human.
Current Chapter Summary:

Summary
...Slowly Marcy began to scroll through the last messages. It always humbled her how a friendship she thought would span the decades could be reduced to such bare communication, a picture here, a like there. It took a while to find their last video call, and she cringed at the fifteen-minute time length from a year ago.
All it takes is one phone call. To bring life back to an old connection held by such tender hands. Even if it is accidental.
A story of how the girls reconnected again after ten years and their relationship moving forward.

Summary
"12 messages sent, 3 of them read, no message received"
Marcy and Sasha had been at every single one of Anne's birthdays since she had first met them, which is what made it so odd when one of them failed to show. She had probably just forgot, too caught up in her own thoughts and let it slip her mind, typical Marcy, she'll probably show up tomorrow with an apology in one hand and a present in the other, right?
Right?
//Down in the depths, a god sleeps, a single orange eye opening as it waits, disappointed that all had yet to change. But that was fine, it was patient, it was very, very patient. Once something changes, once an oppurtunity reveals itself, it would come out of its hibernation. And when it did, every world would come to call it their leader.
