Alternative Title: 'I Cannot Believe I have to Put Up With This, Thought Jiaoqiu' (because the writer played the 2.4 and 2.5 quest and was craving more whump)The Plot: Jiaoqiu knew better than to hope he'd be rescued. He knew that it'd only be a matter of time before his captors broke his will and his body. And he knew that he was more likely to be vaporized by one of Lan's arrows than to ever see Feixiao again.
That didn't mean he accepted it.

It’s usually just his legs, but sometimes his arms if he’s been doing something strenuous, or his hands if he’s been writing. He wonders if Alhaitham suspects anything, with how often they stop along the way if they walk a long distance. (Alhaitham probably just knows Kaveh is a wimp.)

Jiaoqiu has found himself being hunted by a wolf demon named Hoolay because of his magic. With such strong healing and fire magic, he would have been indispensable to Hoolay's army. He's only been able to completely avoid him because of pure dumb luck.
When he finds what he assumes to be a fox kit out in the snow, it seemed like the obvious choice to nurse her back to health. The kit fled as soon as she was healed. However, hundreds of years later, she shows up with another boy and demands he make her his familiar.
He was never taught about this.
