Day 05 of Beifong Week - Healing Wounds
Lin spent years convincing herself that some people simply weren't meant to stay in her life, and most of the time it was her fault. Kya was one of those people. A friendship built over years that ended up becoming something else, but Lin never had the courage to reveal it.
Until Kya leaves for the South Pole again, and Lin realizes, too late, that she may have wasted her last chance to be happy.
Deciding if there's still time to be happy, Lin will have to decide if she's willing to risk losing someone for never having tried, or if she'll take that courageous leap.
Because sometimes you need to heal your own wounds before you realize there's still time to love. -

Upon looking at him, eyebrow raised and gesturing towards the protocol in her hands, her mind made the connection immediately, causing her to close her eyes and take a deep breath.
Slowly, she opened them again to read the rest of the protocol, already dreading the name which would undoubtedly be written under information on the arrested.
“You got to be kidding me.”

Summary
The pain comes in waves, and it’s eased a bit at the moment, though she knows it’s still too sharp for her to stand. She focuses on her breath, inhaling and exhaling, until the scent of something citrusy floats into the room.
She opens her eyes, maneuvering herself into a sitting position before looking over to the kitchen. Lin is standing at the counter, a fiery bright orange in her hands. It suddenly seems to be the only color in the entire apartment - the fruit in Lin’s hands and the peels discarded on the counter next to her. It’s something like watching her partner hold the sun.

“It’s good to see Korra so happy, and about time too. I swear, Asami’s been filing false reports with that girl since the new airbenders showed up.”
Tenzin followed Kya's gaze out into the courtyard, where Korra was taking a break from practising her forms to lie with her head in Asami’s lap. It was good to see her happy, so he simply hummed in agreement and went back to the scroll he was reading. Kya said a lot of things that Tenzin didn't understand, and he’d learned that asking her about them usually ended in ridicule, so on this occasion, he decided against it.
In hindsight, asking would have saved him a lot of stress.
