The last time she remembered, they were playing a game of tag that ended rather abruptly when an eight year old Kohaku whacked the older kid with a frying pan and Ruri could only observe concerned as the two erupted into a brawl of biting and hair pulling until her father had to rush to pull them apart.

The words he had naïvely thought he would never have to hear again were once again tearing his calm and collected presence down like dozens of knives ripping into silk, revealing his cold, hateful, and undoubtedly dangerous side for everyone to see. The blood rushed in his ears, muting the idiotic voices for a fleeting moment and a vein popped in his temple when he finally snapped.
“As I always thought, this new world…” The clawed glove darted towards the capsuled evidence of this new era of potential scientific inventions they were living in. “… ought to be led by an iron fist of weaponized science. Not by the mob rule of you foolish masses…”

In Act I Scene I of The Merchant of Venice, the character Antonio says the following:
“I hold the world but as the world, Gratiano;
A stage where every man must play a part,
And mine a sad one.”Except this is a manga rather than a stage, I’m not a man, and the Narrative would prefer it if I didn’t play a part at all. Unfortunately, it seems like we’re both out of luck there.
Or: A fanfic writer gets isekai’d into Dr. Stone…but gets deposited in America with Xeno and company rather than Senku. Not only that, but the rules of this new reality seem different than the world they left behind.
