Summary
In the SouthWestern Territory of Arizona in 1890, there are people who are woven into each others lives. Henrietta Belaqua, Solomon Lightfeather, and Miguel Cordova, are all people who suffer at the hands of the Reede family. Henrietta is Xavier Reede's ex-wife, having thought to escaped three years ago. Solomon is a Native American doctor who is tired of taking care of the people Xavier decides to break apart. Miguel is a deaf young man who is used for work and pleasure. Xavier and his nephew Jesse control every aspect of their lives, who they interact with, who they love, and the simple pleasures they are allowed to partake in.
How long can they suffer in the house and ranch of Xavier Reede before they're broken forever?

Just after the sun rises in the east, Tommy violently shakes awake in an unfamiliar room, with the curtains hiding far too much light. He stumbles aimlessly until he finds a mirror and he opens his mouth wide to check his teeth.
They’re plain, a little crooked, and a little yellow, but they aren’t sharp. There are no fangs.
He lets himself collapse back into bed as soon as he finds it again.

But the Ender Queen's plan runs far deeper into the seeds of his life than anyone knows and there are more choices-and sacrifices-that must be made until his story can be told. Turns out it's hard to fulfill your destiny when you're determined to avoid it.

"Why's a kid all the way out here by himself?" he asks, slinging his rifle back over his shoulder. The boy bristles as he looks back, his shoulder hiking up. "What kind of a question is that. I'm not asking you why you're here, am I? Why are you so fucking nosy? Also, it's none of your business." the boy responds.
Technoblade holds his hands up placatingly. "I'm just bein' polite, which is actually really nice of me, considerin' you're the one who just attempted to rob me." he says. "You've got way too much shit for just one guy. Really, I'm doing you a service taking some of it off your hands. Very heavy, carrying all that stuff. Can't be good for your back. I was just trying to be helpful." the boy replies.
___Or, in which Technoblade meets Tommy, and decides, against his better judgement, to help this weird kid out.
