Summary

Caught in the moment as he was, he almost didn’t hear the front door opening. Zemo must have left the park earlier than usual. Bucky turned to instinctively greet him and then froze.
Zemo was home.
Fuck.
Fuck.
“Steve,” he said quickly, “Steve, listen, don't—”
But his warning was too late. There was a blur of blue and white, and Bucky only just registered what was happening as the shield was flung through the air. His vibranium arm darted out and barely managed to catch it before it could collide with Zemo’s head.
“Well, this is certainly unexpected,” Zemo said with blatantly feigned calmness. “I must say, it’s a pleasure to see you too, Captain Rogers.”Or: Three years after the Flag Smashers were stopped, Zemo has been helping Bucky and Sam on missions for Wakanda as part of his penance.
Zemo and Bucky are in an Established Relationship™ and Bucky, unexpectedly, seems to have finally found some sort of balance and happiness.

The only reason we know it was, in fact, her in there it’s because Dr. Strange confirmed it. Apparently he’s been tracking her as well ever since the Westview thing happened. She stayed off the radar until today.”
“What did she want from the Raft, anyways? Even if she was pardoned before, what went down in that town, everyone’s looking for a way to throw her in there, Sam.” Said Bucky, trying to make sense of what he was hearing.
But then, the alpha could swear that his heart did a flip and then went up his throat, because he could feel it beating there by the time Sam answered his wondering.
“Buck, she took Zemo.”

Summary
The Winter soldier is holding bucky's sanity hostage without a ransom, and zemo offered his help. Out of guilt? out of fondness? Perhaps he just want to do some good in the world in the decades he would have to wait until he can reunite with his wife and son.
Bucky doesn't immediately trust him, of course, but "You can't trust me, but you have to trust my moral code."
Zemo, a self-proclaimed expert on the Winter soldier, confidently lets him out, but what he opened was a much bigger surprise than he could ever prepare for.
A talker like him, a tortured child, a mute soldier, and more to be comforted. Zemo got to be up to all the jobs.

Bucky is helping Sam investigate a mysterious case of deaths that may involve a rogue HYDRA agent. So Bucky decides to visit Zemo on The Raft, to see if he knows anything.
The problem?
General Ross is convinced Bucky is still a weapon, and when Zemo escapes, Bucky is blamed despite the fact he knows nothing about it.
Now Bucky is a wanted man, and he and his cat Alpine are on the run from Ross and the USMC, while Sam attempts to run interference. All this while frantically looking for Zemo, who may be in trouble... or may be behind all the trouble.*
My attempt at an organic post-canon slow burn casefic for Bucky/Zemo.
