Summary
Before the explosions and the chaos of Dispatch, Father Robert Robertson had a quiet life with his wife, Lilliana, a woman who knew his true identity and kept his secrets without hesitation. Unable to have biological children, they adopted a baby girl: Quinley Aurora-Mae Robertson, a bright, freckled five-year-old fox hybrid with ears, tail, and three shifting forms. She was their whole world.
While Robert lay in a coma after the first half of episode one, Lilliana was murdered by Shroud. Quinley survived only because she happened to be staying with a friend that night. Nearly placed into foster care, she’s returned to Robert’s guardianship once he's been released from the hospital.
Now a grieving single father, Robert steps back into the world with one priority: protect his little Fox. When Blonde Blazer approaches him with an offer to work as a dispatcher, Robert agrees, but only if he can keep Quinley safe at his side, and bring Beef, too.
A story about a father, his daughter, and the small, fierce family they build in the aftermath.

Summary
Every power has a price. Something that would make you laugh at the irony if it wasn't so damn infuriating. A man with the strength of ten at the height of half of one. A woman with asthma who needs to hold her breath to stay invisible. A walking fireball who can lose his eyebrows to a rogue flame.
So of course when Robert realized he wasn't powerless, he could only laugh at the irony.
An immortal man who wishes he was dead really was the icing on the cake.

Summary
Chase leans towards the baby and squints at her like she's a criminal sitting across an interrogation table. Robert knows he named his daughter right when she matches his expression one-for-one. “At least tell me you didn't follow the stupid family tradition. We're running out of nicknames for Robert that ain’t Bob.”
A weight lifts off of Robert's chest. Some unseen, fractured pattern comes to completion, and the joy of it is pure and simple. “Chase,” he says, not knowing whether to sob or laugh, “she's named after you.”
It didn't quite dawn on him yet, clearly. Chase snorts and scratches Beef's ears. “Yeah, right. First name Track, last name Star?”
Robert hoists the baby up to the full twenty-eight inches of limb and menace. “Chase, meet Chase.”

“The point is: the members of the Z-Team range from overprotective to downright possessive of him. Blonde Blazer asked him to cover the shift of another dispatcher when they called out sick, and the Z-Team almost went downright feral upon finding out he had worked with a different group. Needless to say, that wasn’t going to happen ever again. Robert is always happy to help, but it would probably be more helpful for all of the SDN if he just stuck to his group.”

Following his fight with Conquest Mark is drained in most every sense of the word, so of course Angstrom chooses that moment to swoop back in and force Mark from his home.
When calls start coming in about a panic downtown, Z team is responsible for handling the bloodied teen, even after he's no longer seen as a threat. After Mark heals he joins Z team to try to find a way back home, and maybe find himself some new friends along the way.

The aches of more than a decade of hero work catch up to Robert. He comes to realize that he now has people he can lean on when he starts to stumble.

He’s had his fun for today—more than he’d had for a while—, but his night wasn’t over yet. His wings were killing him, and he’s sure they were hurt in some way. That is bad. Really, really fucking bad. So unfortunately, as much as he wanted to, he couldn’t ignore them forever.
