Summary
Ash was in love with Eiji. Anybody who knew the boy could see it was true. That's what made an otherwise harmless Eiji dangerous. It was known by many, including his enemies, that Eiji is Ash's weak spot. He'd do anything-- kill anyone, including himself, to keep Eiji safe. His whole proximity to Eiji set off blaring alarms in his head, warning him that it was a bad idea to keep him close, but he'd forcibly silence the alarms every time for just a moment of personal comfort. There was finally a person in Ash's life that cared for him and expected nothing in return, and he was not too keen on letting that go.
Upon realizing that Ash stole Eiji's first kiss, he's determined to make it up to him. Ash wants to heal from his past abuse and learn to trust Eiji in their new relationship.

Summary
So here, on a random nondescript motel bed, lying next to Cheng Xiaoshi, whose breaths come and go, soft and even, Lu Guang stares. He counts the rise and fall of his chest. Watches the lamplight illuminate his face, and thinks, not for the first time, about death.
But also about living.
He wonders, sometimes, if it's possible to love a person too much. If, perhaps, it might be kinder to distance yourself, to keep them at arm's length. To save yourself the pain. But no, he knows that's not true. Love, once given, isn't a thing that can be taken back, and he gave it to Cheng Xiaoshi long ago. And if he can't keep Cheng Xiaoshi safe, then at least he can love him, with his whole self.
Love, he knows, is its own kind of immortality.

or, 3+1 times Lu Guang stares at Cheng Xiaoshi, and one time Cheng Xiaoshi decides to find out why.

Summary
" This is what his illness was. Ugly and horrible and painful. It wasn't how he'd seen in so many films, pretty girls crying while prettier guys wrapped their arms around them and suddenly solved everything. Because there he was, lying in his bed almost a day after the incident. He wondered if Ash had thought that last night was the worst it would get, him distant for a day and then suddenly breaking down on the kitchen floor. Or did Ash know, as he did, what would follow soon after? Did Ash hate him as much as he hated himself at this moment? His soulmate was gently petting his hair, but he still felt like an emotionless deadweight. "

Summary
It was ridiculous, maybe, for Koume to expect things to go completely back to normal upon Eiji's return. But after two years of dead silence, unreturned calls to Eiji and Ibe both, followed by the news that her son was shot in America? Yes, Koume was desperate for some normalcy. Who could blame her? Unrealistic, but warranted.
She was certainly not expecting what did happen. She could not have predicted Ash Lynx.
