Joe lifts his legs and immediately feels himself begin to topple, but Nicky’s hands on his hips hold him steady.
“Trust me to hold your weight,” Nicky says, and it’s weirdly one of the hottest things anyone’s ever said to Joe, since at six foot and one hundred and eighty pounds, he’s usually the one doing the weight holding in any kind of configuration. “Press your legs up.”
Joe does. With Nicky’s help, he manages to get himself into a very shaky headstand.
One hand still resting lightly on Joe’s hip, Nicky slides the other between Joe’s legs, and Joe nearly falls out of the pose.
“Squeeze my hand with your thighs,” Nicky says, apparently oblivious to the way he’s just given Joe a stroke.

Summary
Joe loved each and every one of Nicky’s smiles. There were the small ones, barely a flattening of his lips, and the broader ones, a visual cue for those who would not understand his true smiles. There were the grins, broad and beaming and rare, taking Nicky himself by surprise but rarely Joe, who had made it his explicit goal some seven hundred years ago to draw those grins from him as often as he was humanly able.
And then there was this: his lips stretched taut, a grimace in all but name, a baring of teeth, a statement of purpose that brought its greatest discomfort because, not in spite of, being presented as a gesture of joy.

It's a nice sentiment, Yusuf thinks. It would be more helpful, however, if they hadn't sent the same werewolf who almost tore him apart on the battlefield during the Blood Wars, centuries ago. The same werewolf Yusuf almost bled dry in retaliation.
The same werewolf who is now watching him with pale eyes from across the room, and smells so fucking delicious Yusuf is losing his mind.
