Summary
At last the fight is over. Life carries on. Meryl and Milly are finally married, Knives is learning what is means to be human, and Vash is hoping to enjoy his new life now that he doesn't have to spend it forever looking down the barrel of a gun. The world is on the mend, and Vash the Stampede can finally hang up his coat and settle down into some of that peace he has spent so long searching for. At least, that had been the plan.
There is something watching him. Something shapeless and wanting and lurking just out of the corner of his eye. Something he refuses to name. It seeks him out, has entwined itself with him inextricably, and refuses to let him rest. Not until he can find the courage to acknowledge it.
There is one last foe that Vash has yet to face, and it is not one he can run from any longer.
